Man, I admit I've been listening to the new Yerba Buena album called "Island Style" and I'm thoroughly impressed. This isn't the same band Latin Caribbean Fest brought this year from Seattle (Yerbabuena) but the kick ass YERBA BUENA (notice the space between the name) from Manhattan that Jazz Fest brought to Market Square in the summer of 2004. This band is going places playing at major events all over the US including Amsterjam held last weekend in New York which included Snoop Dogg, Fishbone, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Wyclef + they recently played the Sierra World Music Festival in Nevada which had the biggest reggae names in the world! To top it off they even got invited to play on Conan O'Brien about a month and a half ago.

The band has so many danceable musical styles in their carvanan band of funkiness including Afro-Beat, Afro-Cuban, reggaeton, hip hop, dancehall, ska, reggae funk and more! They are coming to Richards on Richards in Vancouver on Saturday, October 8th/2005 (Thanksgiving Weekend). It would be awesome if they came back to Victoria:) Maybe one day but otherwise I may be so inclined to catch the Vancouver show...

Check out WWW.YERBABUENAMUSIC.COM and check out both their videos. You'll be sure to dance if Afro-beat, Afro-Cuban, reggaeton, dancehall, reggae, ska or hip hop is your thing:) - Thu, 25 Aug 2005 5:36pm
