HOUSE OF BLUES CONCERTS CANADA presents
THE PROCLAIMERS

With special guests THE CLUMSY LOVERS

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1ST

RICHARD'S ON RICHARDS

DOORS 7:00 pm SHOW 7:30 pm

**EARLY SHOW**

Sixteen years after The Proclaimers hit the charts with the determined anthem "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" the group is still going strong. Born Innocent, the band's fifth studio album, was released in 2004 to international critical praise. Songs like the title track and "Should Have Been Loved" testified to the continued brilliance of songwriters Craig and Charlie Reid, the bespectacled Scottish twins who make up The Proclaimers.

Over they years Craig and Charlie have released a string of exceptional albums building on their sound, a uniquely Scottish hybrid of vibrant power-pop and witty folk-rock brimming over with lyrics of uncommon honesty and depth. 2005 sees the release of the group's sixth record, Restless Soul. Early UK press reviews have been full of praise, noting the record easily switches gears from folksy to anthemic to conciliatory to celebratory. And, as The Proclaimers' recent performance as part of the Live 8 event in Edinburgh attests, the Reid brothers are as melodically gifted, charismatic and determined as ever.

Opening the show is the happy-go-lucky Vancouver quintet The Clumsy Lovers. With over 1,500 live performances over the past 10 years, The Clumsy Lovers are now poised to achieve the creative and popular breakthrough of their lives. Without ever having courted or discouraged success, the band has made an album that expertly walks the tightrope between tradition-minded roots music ("Raging bluegrass Celtic rock," a reviewer once said) and sparkling modern pop. In trying to please no one but themselves, The Clumsy Lovers have conceived a collection of songs that may prove to please damn near everyone.

Don't miss The Proclaimers live at Richard's on Richards on Saturday, October 1st with special guests The Clumsy Lovers.
