Combining conceptual art-rock with experimental instrumentation and tuneful songs, the disc caught fire with fans of Tool, Sparta and the Mars Volta. The Bay Area band's 2002 follow-up, El Cielo, brought further comparisons to Radiohead and even U2 for its epic songs and instrumental grandeur as the group settled into a sound uniquely its own and indescribably beautiful. Fueled by the wondrous riff-rock and yearning melody of its Internet-available single "Bug Eyes," Dredg's third and latest album Catch Without Arms is generating an even greater amount of buzz and hype than its first two records combined. An accompanying North American tour promises to lift Dredg to greater prominence as more and more people catch on to one of the most exciting, energetic and uplifting bands to come out of the West Coast in the last five years. | chris_DSK User Info... | im there...saw them at snocore at the commodore opening the show with hot water music, glassjaw and sparta on the rest of the bill...i must say that their set made me a fan...missed them last time they came to richards cause they were playin with hoobasuck and i didnt even look at the support on the bill picked up catch without arms today for 10 bucks at a&b...sounds pretty solid 1st listen...everything seems to flow nicely...no instrumentals on this one tho any word on who is opening? circa survive possibly? - Tue, 21 Jun 2005 5:31pm | ||
