Anonymous What the fuck is with you "ska dudes"? - Mon, 6 Jan 2003 10:05pm
Robson Yo didn't you hear, people with negative attitudes suck!! and as for us "ska dudes", well maybe we're not afraid to stray from the main stream, unlike some people who crave to be just like every body else...Ska is high energy, and lots of fun, I can understand if it's not your thing, but why can't you understand if it is our thing? you know what they say, "different strokes for different folks"... - Tue, 7 Jan 2003 12:55pm
Anonymous Ska boys act like queers - Tue, 7 Jan 2003 2:24pm

there is only so much i can handle of honkies wanting to be jamaican( no disrespect to my carribean brothas). Anyways who wants to listen to songs all day about people walking and whats with the pants and the misconceoption that you are listening to something thats "new" and "underground" i fell into that trap for about five minutes until i realised that preassure cooker sounded like everyone else in that genre - Tue, 7 Jan 2003 2:57pm

brett people who think pressure cooker sounds like every other ska really doesn't know a thing about ska. listen to some skatalites or desmond dekker and tell me that they sound like pressure cooker. learn a bit about the music before you hack it down. - Wed, 8 Jan 2003 5:32pm

Well, guess of his dozen responses, looks like there's room for at least one interested instead of critical response...

Hey ska dude, this another one of us supposed "trying-to-be-Jamaican" fellas.. Heck, I even throw cinnamon, bananas, coconut milk, and ginger into my mornin' porridge... Threw all those into my pancakes this morning, for a ranch-meets-Carib hybrid brekkie...

I think it's funny people tease the "wannabe Jamaicans"... Just because I enjoy music from the caribbean, as well as food, women, culture...from there and from other countries besides this uni-color country...I smoked some weed supposedly from Jamaican seed the other day... strong..!

Anyways, ska dude, I know yer prob. bored of hearing about my oatmeal, etc... so to the point..: If you need drums, gimme a call... I listen to:

Reggae
Ska
Dub
Funk
Dancehall
Jazz
Jungle / D & B / Hip Hop /etc...

Some of you don't like horns.. cuz you only know one kind of horny... Bring on the brass, I say... and the skankin' rhythem guitars, keys, fat bass lines...

So you like rootsy ska? or punky ska? I like rootsy-jazzy-funky ska, but am willing to taste the rest...
Let me know, I've got a funky old 60's jazzy drumkit I'm using while I bail out the Ayotte's from L & M, they'd sound sweet with ska-noises...

[email protected] -if you wanna communicate minus this message board... (should call it a message "bored"... - Wed, 8 Jan 2003 6:08pm
Justin Whats with this bullshit dissin ska? theres nothin wrong with it. And plus if your a "jamaican wannabe" you'd play reggae then, not ska. But reggaes still awesome. but still if theres one type of you "music" we should all hate it's rap. I mean raps not even music its just some guy talkin into a mic and maybe with some cheesey keyboards or drum machine or guy making sounds with his mouth (all of those things are more musical then rap). So dont fuck with ska just shit on rap.( or puke on it. either way it's good). - Wed, 8 Jan 2003 11:06pm
Justin and plus whats wrong with wanting to be jamaican, jamaica is awesome. you racist bastards. - Wed, 8 Jan 2003 11:10pm
Brett just so you know Justin, Ska originated in Jamaica before Reggae. it went ska to rocksteady to reggae. Bob Marley even played ska before he played reggae. - Wed, 8 Jan 2003 11:17pm

And let's not go "hating" rap... we need not "hate" any musics... I tell people I enjoy all musics 'cept for maybe country and rap... but I don't hate rap, in fact I do enjoy listening to some Hip Hop... despite the often drum machines, ,etc., sometimes the grooves are fat and the lyrics potent.. But like every genre, there is the cheese and the cream...

Hey ska dude, I know bass and guitar players, let's just get together and see what happens.. I also know percussionist and maybe a horn player.. I look forward to playing some rootsy ska (which some may say sounds just like "reggae".. it's all really related... mento morphed to calypso which begat ska then rocksteady, finally reggae and dub, now we have jungle, ragga, dancehall, hop.. funk... it's all RIDDIM.. as my jamaican bass player bro used to insist..

Until then... J. - Mon, 13 Jan 2003 6:00pm

So Mr. Frazer Johnson I take it you listen to punk to be cool? We listen to ska because we like it. I'd say in the last few years punk has gone through quite the same "revival" with all these Blink 182, Sum41 bands. Along with all the crap some good ska has/and is still being released (same can be said for punk). - Wed, 15 Jan 2003 10:55pm
