Thats cool. The last time I ran across ascii SW, it wasn't finished. Even with ascii tools, it would take a long time to program.

I'm leery of the new release. This is likely to be the best of the new three, but regrettably that isn't saying much. If its half as good as Empire I'll be happy. Otherwise expectations are delibrately set very low.... - Thu, 7 Apr 2005 10:02pm

This movie is going to crush all!!! I am so excited for this. It's the only Star Wars movie to receive a PG-13 rating so it's not going to be lame and watered down. - Sat, 9 Apr 2005 12:32pm

The whole series would have 'crushed all' if the first two were any good. Its perhaps sacreligious for someone from my generation to complain about the SW franchise, but Lucas' unabashed adoption of pure digital technique has not helped the overall product. It was more cutting edge with models and puppets than it is now, by a wide margin.

Without doubt this will be the best of the new batch of movies, but it'll have to be fan-fuckin-tastic to compete with what he achieved 30 years ago.

Also, as much as I love documentaries, I'm not sure I can sit through another Disc2 DVD behind-the-scenes where computer graphics wizards talk about how fuckin' cool they are for pulling off this one 12 second shot of uber-graphics.....

Like I said, I hope to be blown away, but I will not hold my breath until then.
