| Sati User Info... | I was SO stoked for this show... just being able to witness Glen Benton live at the Immolation show a few years ago was a HUGE deal to me. I'm not always convinced by dark performers who come out under mainstream light, but I believe that he's had a serious passion for what he's preached. It was hard to top Immolation that night, but I really liked Deicide's set. Happy with the turnout last night, considering it was put on by Scrape & the Invisible Orange... local, independent metal promoters. SUPPORT THEIR SHOWS! http://livevan.com/ScrapeRecords http://livevan.com/theInvisibleOrange Really good crowd response for all the openers (tho I still don't get AW?), a really great welcome for Deicide, and a pit that didn't embarrass. GB made some kind remarks about how "evil" Vancouver is and "Iron Tits" in the pit - "Vancouver, where even the women scare the FUCK out of you!". :) Sometimes when I'm over-tired and over-stimulated (seeing a ton of people I've known for yrs all in the same place at the same time) I lose focus and can't really get into the bands. This was such a night. I kinda liked both LN, but I was fading by JR. I missed out and want to go back and do it all again. There was a lot of bitching about Deicide being unfriendly and unsociable w/their fans: As I was saying last night, being Glen Benton shouldn't have to be about shaking hands and kissing babies just because that's what both "black" & death metal bands are doing for you these days. I think a lot of you guys are missing the point. Do you understand the purpose behind his career... the meaning of sacrilege... blasphemy? He looked burnt compared to the Immolation show (hardly venemous, lack of that brilliant fire in his eyes), and I can understand why. Felt for him with the "puppeteers" remark... bullshit expectations from businessmen - & apparently fans. :( Pissed me off him taking the shit out of the crew up there though. That's unprofessional, but I guess you gotta give him that... grouching being true to form. I think its enough that he showed up... an honour to see him again. People who understand that met him and earned the right to meet him by putting themselves in the right place.. probably the way it should be.
