| Mr. Hell User Info... | Hi Darrell, I think any band who reads this are wondering most of the same things I am. What are the prizes? Open to all genres? Winners decided by a panel of judges or crowd noise measurements? Any compensation for the bands at all for coming out and entertaining a crowd and generating revenue for Western Speedway? Is it free for bands to enter in the event there is no compensation involved at least? What is the expected attendance and where is the stage to be situated and who is doing sound and on what equipment? Will there be a decent back line for all bands to use? How much time/how many songs for each band's allotted set? How much will tickets be? Will there be overnight camping allowed? Alcohol served? All ages show? Any big or mid-tier name bands being brought in to headline or be a featured draw? I am sure anyone who isn't overly jaded by past scammy Battles Of The Bands will be able to add more questions to this. Thanks! - Sun, 12 Feb 2012 8:51pm | ||
| Mr. Hell User Info... | In fact, I am just going to cut right to the chase and say that if you ditched the whole competition way of doing it you will definitely get way more response and a higher caliber of bands. We (the musicians of Victoria) have been wanting the opportunity to have an outdoor summer festival event to go to and play. The fans of all the bands here would certainly be in full support if the event was well organized and prices were reasonable. We have all had bad, bad experiences with Battle Of The Band events. The experienced bands who draw will not be interested in that. Rather play a fun festival without the shady aspects present and have camaraderie between everyone to ensure the ultimate entertainment value. But, it is your idea and your event. I just wanted to offer the opinion of most of the musicians I know to you and extend my assistance in helping if you wish. The music community here is hungry for something like this and pulling it off successfully would really reinvigorate our city for local music in every way. - Sun, 12 Feb 2012 9:12pm | ||

| Darrell User Info... | There will be more information on our website soon @ westernspeedway.net -The event will be backed by 100.3 the Q - it will be open to all types of music - there will be no entry fee - the fans will vote with ballots for the winners 1 ballot per admission -there will be camping available -there will be alcohol sales -we are working on what the prize money will be that will be posted on our web site -We are currently working on other prices relevant to a band as well - The ticket prices will be kept low so hopefully all can enjoy -we did the George Canyon concert last year and used PAW for stage sound and lighting, They were excellent for our needs -the intent of this event is to showcase local talent - - Mon, 13 Feb 2012 6:47pm | ||

Sounds like you have a good start to it. As it progresses and gains steam, the bands that enter will be a good marker of how successful it will be.
