hey guys, i was looking to put on an all ages show somewhere in Victoria. I was wondering what would be a good venue to do this at, possibly 200+, and this is not a rave. The style of music i would be interested in is rock and roll, maybe punk. - Mon, 21 Feb 2005 5:24pm

fcc is forsure the best place for an indie all ager. They charge $200.00 for a night so it might be a good idea to have a couple bands involved.

If you need another band I would gladly email a demo of my band REDBYRD. - Thu, 24 Feb 2005 2:15pm

Are there any bigger halls or com centers, i got a reply and it only holds like 140 max. Im looking for more of a 200+ venue. And if i were to do this, i would mic the amps drums and yes vocals too. But don't get too excited about it cause i would need help organizing it and promoting it. Ive never done it before, i just wanna play in vic and we don't have a demo so the bar scene is pretty much out of the question - Thu, 24 Feb 2005 5:14pm

Yo. I'm in a band (Supernova) thats playing in an all-ages show this weekend at FCC (Friday, 7pm!!!), and I'm pretty sure the limit for people is 200, but thats including band members....we have 5 bands, plus organizers, etc., and I think we're allowed to sell 160 or 180 tickets... - Thu, 24 Feb 2005 9:45pm

I'm now going to answer wanless' question.

The Fernwood Community Centre is like a big barn. It holds 200 (including everyone involved) but it sounds like playing in a big open space. aka. the sound is not the best in town. but its relatively cheap.

Gary Oak Room holds less people but is in a much better room for music to be played in and the sound is alot better. I think it is also a little more expensive but I find alot more people come to the gary oak room, then big fernwood. likely due to location.

If you are willing to spend a bit of cash, but want a big, nice venue, with excellent sound. Its gotta be The White Eagle Hall. Personally I'm far to cheap to rent the place. But if you are expecting alot of people, go for it. Its large, it has a really nice stage, it looks super cool, the sound is great. the only thing about the white eagle hall is that its location is not ideal. It seems kids can't find there way there or something. But this has to be one of the best halls in town.

theres some other but those are the three main ones that can hold a few people. I like the fifty fifty, but thats nowhere near a 200+ venue. good luck.

and i recommend nicks band the fillmores as well.

Kris is absolutely correct, however, "a lot" is two words. What is happening to our educators? - Fri, 25 Feb 2005 2:14pm

The White Eagle Hall is in James Bay. It costs quite a bit less during the week than on weekends but you likely won't get as good a turn out during the week. It is a very nice venue indeed. - Fri, 25 Feb 2005 6:35pm
