Someone I know :) tells me I'm pissing off people here. I am sorry if my responses annoy people, just telling it from my standpoint, there's a reason I don't do the gig thing anymore, and I have my reason for doing this...

And if I'm full of shit, just ignore me. LiveVictoria = Therapy for a lot of people, including myself. Nuff said... http://vdrp.blogspot.com. - Thu, 28 Jul 2011 8:54pm Edited: Fri, 29 Jul 2011 3:15pm

Not trying to be an ass Phil, but constantly using your head injury as a crutch... We all know you have a head injury, we all know those fucks messed you up for no reason. But you seriously need to work on getting past the fact that you have a head injury. The head injury doesn't make you who you are, you do.

Hope you're having a great summer. - Sat, 13 Aug 2011 8:53am

But well I dunno, perhaps I suffer with PTSD? Seriously, I have a disability, I hate to use it as a crutch, but I'm more at fault especially when I get a few in me. I hate to use my disability, but well I am disabled. In any case... :)

Look, you don't get fucked up physically and then wake up the next day and your better, you have some serious shit to deal with, as I did and I'm still dealing with. If you don't get it I understand :) - Sun, 14 Aug 2011 2:35am Edited: Sun, 14 Aug 2011 2:47am

I dunno if you suffer from PTSD, are you reliving the assault on a regular basis? Are you noticing certain things trigger you reliving the assault? If so you might consider talking to your doctor and getting referred to Vic Mental health for a psych consult. Believe me it helps. I'd go into further detail, but not on this board. Seeing a psych doesn't show weakness, it shows you've got the strength do deal with issues most others would be completely, mentally, crippled by.

I've got a seriously messed up back and am considered disabled, but I don't let the back injury be what defines me anymore. So I fully understand where you're coming from. Yes I understand that my injury and your injury are apples to oranges in comparison, but I certainly can empathize with what you have gone through.

Sorry of you took my last post as a personal attack. It certainly wasn't my intention. - Sun, 14 Aug 2011 9:54am

And totally understandable. I don't suffer with the assault, but all the shit that happened before the assault. I guess it just welled up or something. If your back injury is affecting your work then your disabled. But getting on disability is a godsend, cause a lot of people that should be on disability aren't, go figure. I'm just curious if I'm actually PTSD, really. *shrug* - Sun, 14 Aug 2011 11:27pm

Well if you have PTSD there'll be triggers that will set off either just the feelings that are tied to the trauma or you can fully relive the trauma like it was happening right now. If it's something along those lines definitely talk to your doc about a referral to Vic Mental Health.

I've taken some therapy for my PTSD and it's like night and day. Almost not the same person anymore. I also quit self-medicating and that just made it even better, so if you can you might want to just take a break from booze and weed (not sure if you smoke weed or not) for even a couple weeks and see how you feel. Booze especially can cause issues for people with PTSD because those feelings just seem to come up a lot easier even with just a few drinks. Most who suffer from PTSD also suffer from depression and anxiety disorder(s). It's a nasty cycle really. The PTSD makes you relive the trauma which makes you depressed and anxious about everything.

I had provincial disability at one point, but my better half made more than the 'cap' so I got tossed off, went to school for Comp. Sci., although I still really miss cooking. It was what I was meant to do.

Be well Phil, you deserve it. - Mon, 15 Aug 2011 1:20am

But that's just it, I need to be tested, if I don't have it I don't, but it always makes me wonder why I'm the way I am. - Tue, 16 Aug 2011 8:33pm

Gotta start somewhere mate, might as well get the ball rolling. There is no testing per se for PTSD, the psych just talks to you about your issues and then gives you a diagnosis. If they recommend therapy go that route. Personally I can't stand the anti-depressants and anti-psychotics they use to treat PTSD, the side effects tend to be as bad or worse than the issue itself. I'm weaning off my last med now, cause the therapy is doing what needed to be done. The therapist will just teach you how to train your brain not to go to that 'place' anymore.

It can only get better Phil, but you've got to want to get better for any of it to work. Talk to your GP, or specialist, next time you see him/her. They'll send in a referral and you'll probably be dealing with an intake worker from VMH in a couple weeks to a month and in to see a psych not long after. - Tue, 16 Aug 2011 9:29pm
