No one gonna say anything about this show? That's rather surprising seeing as how much it kicked ass. The sound was excellent. The place was packed. First up...

I, The Hunter did an awesome job warming up the crowd. They mixed technical proficiency with an all out bomb blast of metal. The lead singer could shatter glass with his vicious growls. Everything about this band was dead on. The solos were out of this world...and the guy did them while wearing sunglasses. The drummer was crisp. Unfortunately, the crowd were not up to the task yet to truly let loose, but I, The Hunter definitely got everyone's attention. We were all staring in awe, if anything else.

Next was Sons of Nova. After a blast from the Lust Boys past, they launched into their stoner-heavy set. The only way I can describe these guys is a mix of Queens of the Stone Age and Black Sabbath. You can tell they were having a great time. Their songs were catchy and the vocal trading added a lot to the dynamic. They've added some dancers to their stage show, so even if you aren't into the music, you have some eye candy. Things really exploded when they launched into a cover of War Pigs.

VonBones was heavier than I expected! They really tore the place a new asshole. I'd say they were definitely the most punk-oriented of the night. The pit was insane during their performance. Some idiot decided it would be cool to smash a glass on the stage, but luckily no one was hurt. The lead singer has quite an intimidating howl. The band played like a well oiled machine. I love the stage presence and the banter. There was a lot of confidence presented, and they backed it up ten fold.

Last but not least, the Lust Boys brought the sleaze. One thing you need to admit about a Lust Boys show is they live the rock n' roll stereotype to the fullest and love every minute of it. A definite recommendation for anyone that loves the hard rock/metal of the 70's/80's. Vocalist Jayme "Gypsy" Black had the crowd in the palm of his hands. The band did their part as well, with the quick shout out lines in the choruses. If you liked the eye candy of the Sons of Nova show, there were even more women on stage. The band played off the dancers, and made them part of the show. They finished the set with a couple covers, and I don't think there was a single person in the V-Lounge not singing along.

No, I'm not some sort of idiotic fanboy. This was a well put together show from start to finish with four distinct sounding bands that set the place ablaze. Well done. - Sun, 17 Oct 2010 9:12pm Edited: Sun, 17 Oct 2010 9:14pm

Here here!...

One of the best local shows ive seen lately. Missed 'I, the hunter' and left before lust.. but Sons of Nova were the best i've seen them. No lie, they were really really good. I think they've found what they are going for and are really finding their own.

Von Bones, amazing!.. I'll second what Dylan said in regards to energy and confidence. Great presence.. great heavy, aggressive sound... I will make a point of seeing them at their next local show. Also the newish direction it seems their songs are taking is a good thing.

Well i'll be the first of the bands to weigh in(probably only but whatever). I thought it was a well put together show and was very well received by the audience. I'd like to thank Dr. Shock(of bloody betty and the deadly sins) for dancing for us ,that was great.Big shout out to the Master Joda gang for making this show possible and the bands who participated. All the bands were in top form and didn't take any prisoners in a no holds barred powerhouse of a show. I told you guys you'd want to be there instead of reading/hearing about how great it was. There was a rare chemistry that night that i don't think has ever been seen at a local show like this.Almost twenty people who at one time or another have played together or are associated in some way musically. Something that you can't ever recapture. One of those "had to be there" kinda things. Thanks again to the whole gang for the help with our opening song. Wouldn't have been the same without you.The only downer for the night was the fact that security decided to power trip and forcefully remove people who weren't meeting "dress code"before lust had even finished playing, so more popped collar preppies could come in.

P.S. Don't fret...Sons of Nova is playing the V Lounge again next month, Nov. 25th , and we need your help. We want anyone who is so under dressed it's scary. if you have piercings in your face, tattoos everywhere and wear clothes you've had on since 9/11 , we want you. our goal is to fill the v lounge with as many "undesirables" as possible. we don't appreciate or fans getting kicked out of our shows before they even finish because they choose to live an alternative lifestyle. If you agree come out and show some support. the show is also going to be a CHARITY event for christmas daddies put on by Master Joda as part of his rockfest charity shows. So come out, support the christmas daddies and support alternative living and being able to wear whatever the fuck you want and not being ridiculed or excluded. - Mon, 18 Oct 2010 8:45am
