| ranting | Laprider is a great guy and knows his shit,and has put in his time. Not that AC hasn't but I know LR has his shit together and has done some pretty cool things in the "biz". Victoria needs some good solid management companies/people that can help with the business shit. There are way too many good acts here in all genres that will never get noticed due to the lack of knowledge about the "biz" and it gets to be way too much of a load trying to write do the business end AND keep a solid line-up of guys to keep at it if that is the goal. Everyone wants a recording contract,even if they say they don't. There are exceptions of course.Depends what you want out of it.But everyone usually "sells out" after awhile.Being in a band is not cheap and easy. Hot Hot Heat knew the business end,look what they got. I heard they made their own contract and it got accepted by the label.Not many bands can do that unless they have their shit together.Bands or musicians that don't know what they are getting into on the business end get screwed. If you tell people you have proven results then lets hear them. If i advertised my band as an amazing band with a proven track record so hire us i would most certainly be asked 'what track record'. Now if i replied with a 'if you havent heard of me then you must live under a rock' I cant see many people wanting to hire my band. I would be hesitant to have someone representing us that presents himself as the 2nd coming of christ for band production. For someone who points out the importance of the 'business'end in music, he shows a general lack of public relations and communications ability. | Metal Encyclopedia | Nevermore are a metal band out of Seattle. Extremely talented, one of the best guitar slingers in metal today, great drumming and a huge european fanbase. In Greece they are as big as Metallica, but in the US they are lucky to draw 1000 to shows, and in Canada, Victoria was one of their strongest turnouts with about 400. ML7 and WAV opened for them. Nevermore are the remnants of a band called Sanctuary and have members that were in Forbidden, also one of their ex guitarists is now in Cannibal Corpse. A cross between modern european metal, power metal and american metal, their latest album Dreaming Neon Black incorporates alot of very catchy riffing ( ala numetal ) extreme lead guitar work, crushing drums and power vocals. When they arent on the road touring like rockstars, they are working in their hometown.
