Hope that header's right, i wrote/spelled it from memory.

Augury had border trouble so only a couple were here, but luckily for everyone they had some SWEET merch. Back Sept 6 opening for Aborted at the Red Room (killer!).
ABORTED ON MY BIRTHDAY ABORTED ON MY BIRTHDAY! And Augury!

People were bickering like old married people about fronting each other money for merch! Guess they didn't realize how much cool stuff there'd be. Its not like they don't already have old stuff either, holy crap.

Pretty nice turnout, as well it should have been for these reasons: (not necess in order)

- DEATH ANGEL blew everyone away May 23, 2004 (by Duncan's memory! & our poster archives confirm!) at the Cobalt, so everyone with a clue who caught them back then was back for more. WICKED THEN WICKED NOW! GOTTA HEADLINE NEXT TIME!

- THE INVISIBLE ORANGE are so BIG A F'N DEAL to metal in BC right now, I can't even tell you. A lot of people out for IO too and to help MAKE SURE IO can keep being able to bring bands out. Even if we can't get to a show, we can all send someone else we know's into metal out - its that easy to keep IO, independent metal promoters, in business. Do your part.

- Swashbuckle & Mutiny Within have been through a couple of times before and seem to have a really excited bunch of fans waiting for their live show each time.

- Soilwork sure were popular, and what can you say, hundreds of kids can't be wrong. Definitely had the goods to headline with that kind of performance... but I'm still a little pissy about DeathAngel not being able to do another song. :(

Speaking of, those kids are pulling off some nice pits!

Stoked to see so many old friends out. Nice to see these old bands can still bring out their earliest fans, and make a ton of new ones. Metal Ron & Gerald Rattlehead, the guys who really intro'd me to metal on Powerchord (radio) every week years ago, were both there, Ron banging his head & Gerald getting all his merch signed.

And again, BIG kudos to the bands AND the fans for triumphing through some really unfortunate sound issues.
WE don't let things like that get us down when the bands are this good - never do! Its what sets us apart from the poor unfortunates..

Absolutely stunned and saddened when Death Angel's set came to an awkward end though! We all deserved an encore, and it was criminal that the powers that be couldn't pull it off and allow that.

Death Angel needs to headline next time they're heeeeere!! Its just the right thing to have happen. :)

(& thanks to someone in the death angel & augury camps who checked out our sites and updated their stuff. it makes it a hella lot easier on everyone promoting the show that way, so cheers!)

I had to play an all ager show in Maple Ridge, left quickly afterwards but got to the venue just as Soilwork were about 2-3 songs into their set.. Sucks as I really only wanted to see Death Angel (knowing Augury were off the bill for the night) but ended up having some drinks with some of Death Angel in the green room and outside for a few doobs with Rob Cavestany afterwards so that was ok.

Augury are back in Sept anyhow ( Sept 7th in Victoria ) and although Ill be on tour we get to open for them in Calgary and Edm, with Aborted which will be a blast!

Rob said DA will headline a tour after their new album drops in a few months.. - Thu, 29 Jul 2010 6:55pm

Awesome! I saw your post and told everyone last night about them coming back to headline, but it seemed like everyone I told had talked to them that night too, and already knew!
One of the best things for me both shows is watching people go up and meet them - funny as all hell, everyone so stoked and animated!

killer you get to open for those bands.

Ron's interviewing Mayo from the Invisible Orange on Powerchord right now - 101.9fm.
