So it starts off with, is it really them? probaly a thrown together clone band??, followed by rumours of slow sales, then Friday in the line-up the announcement "No Flav", but onwards and down the stairs, share a table with a couple from Powell River come to get his early lps signed. Tickets in Van were $100. DJ Juicebox, a tall white hip hop iggy and his partner in crime with a strat into a laptop just got everyone going like a New Orleans party maker. The place fills up, sells out, gets jammed, gets hot and buzzing. Out comes keith Shocklee of the Bombsquad on the tables dropping classic beats, dub and new things (told me afterwards he's designing for Reason 5). Great Bass player digging down into an ampeg stack, hendrix guitarist teeth plucker back of the neck dance screaming leads, drummer on the acoustic kit starting from the crackin Amen break and then going out from there, two soldiers locking and out comes Chuck-D almost 60 in the hat (how many ways can you use it live, yikes) and proceeds to simply tear the club apart. They did it all, talked a lot to us (last time I was here was 1999, this palce was called Legends then, and he was blown away by how many people who were dancing had been six when he recorded some of what he played, Steve nash versus the Lakers, Customs and Canadian immigration policy, what about Arizona's laws, develop your insides as much as outside advice to the body building gangstas, and Chuck never let up. Best live show I've seen in many years. He never stopped pouring it on and it became just a sea of people and bass, how low can you go into the terrordome and out dancing. Never saw so many Fight the Power shirts and arms in the air in my life. A great concert from start to end. After it Chuck's brother took us back to meet him to get the albums signed and then he signed his converses. Ears ringing don't care their better now, it was simply a great show. - Sun, 30 May 2010 3:14pm Edited: Sun, 30 May 2010 3:21pm

I was at the Hoovers the other night (!!!) and saw friends (Bryan & Leif) coming from the Vancouver PE show. They said it was amazing too.
I was intrigued but a little afraid since I haven't heard much about PE lately, but then I also never go to huge shows. Can't say it wouldn't have been great just hearing that voice booming through the room! haha, surreal. - Tue, 1 Jun 2010 2:02pm
