| Sati User Info... | Another killer metal show! Sounded like a few people enjoyed Evile & even Warbringer, but I got there late and missed them. Caught God Dethroned and though I wasn't familiar with them at all, quite a few friends were excited. I enjoyed them. And I like the venue - decent sitelines. VADER was excellent. I caught them at Richards last time and was ecstatic then. Had to walk around a while to find the sweet spots sound-wise, but it wasn't too hard. Vader's Vader - there's never any fail. Amazing then, amazing still. ROOOOOAAAR! OVERKILL - can't believe they can still pull that off! They might have been the first metal band I really got into and it was because of METAL RON & GERALD RATTLEHEAD playing them every week on Powerchord. I'd been thinking about that and lo and behold they were BOTH there that night and BOTH were completely stoked! Made me pretty happy to see dedicated old metal fans there supporting dedicated new promoters. Its getting expensive with all these shows and not everyone can make it out to all the big ones they want to get to. Anyway, Bobby Blitz is as cut as ever - what a great creature! I decided that one of the reasons why I loved them so much is because I can (quietly) screech along in the same range and intensity, as opposed to most of the gutteral vocalists I'm into where I end up feeling weak trying to grunt along. Thats just all kinds of frustrating. He walked by a couple of times and I kinda freaked out and had to get away since it was just too surreal seeing him in real life - that look & posture is so unique. He's SUCH a caracature of himself. They accomodated a lot of my friends though, signing stuff and chatting. Everyone brought their old gear out. I saw them last time at Richards play to a really sparse crowd, and they were apparently pissed about it, so it was awesome to get them a packed house this time. The difference is that only metalheads know how to treat metalheads, and THAT makes all the difference in promotion. :) Watched friends who'd been superstoked for months crowd surfing with huge smiles on their faces, that was awesome! Overkill exhausted the audience by half way through, and kept going - and then came out again. They were briliiant, and out of respect, I destroyed my neck keeping up til the very end. A 2 day headache as a result (& no booze involved!), but totally worth it. Thanks to everyone involved in putting this one on - heard yesterday the extent of it and gathered that this one was a LOT of hard work.
