I know! He's like the next Micheal Angelo Batio...or even the next Kyle Gas, if only he had the same double neck guitar Mr.Gas in Master Exploder...He'd be licking it all day. - Wed, 13 Jan 2010 10:12am

Band rehearsal ran late, so I missed out on Archon Legion.
Crown The Wolf were sounding solid as ever! The new drummer is fitting in well. In 6 months once he's fully gelled, it is going to be a slobber knocker of an experience seeing CTW. Everyone was sounding great. Nick's voice was in a beautiful whiskey soaked gravelly state.
The place was quite full. Good energy. Never had my drink holding arm bumped on purpose so many times. Restrained myself from throwing elbows.
Bison was heavy and had riff after riff after riff. Some of them were very recognizable.
I appreciate what they do, but after 30 minutes it gets to be a headache. I am in the minority it seems, because most of the bar was going nuts.
Good on localish boys doing well! - Sat, 23 Jan 2010 2:09pm

New Archon lineupw as solid.. Guitars were a bit low in the mix but the 3 guitar explosion was still a delight to watch.. Darius on drums was really pounding, more in the pounding metal vein than Skyes traditional speed rock style was. Andrews vocs stronger than ever, no cigs!

CTW rocked as usual. Nothing bad to say about such a solid band. One of my fave local bands for sure!

Bison.. captivating at first, and some epic buildups throughout but honestly after half hour or so I was overly bored. Lots of people cleared out as their set went on and people all around me were moaning as they went into yet another encore song.. So Mr Hell, you werent alone, I heard tons of the same comments last night - Super solid band with an awesome sound but every song kind of blends into the next and the A-D-D factor of a roomful of drunks just isnt a good combination. More the kind of band I would enjoy on long drives or when wrapping my head around hours of web design haha.. ie: Trance-like. - Sat, 23 Jan 2010 4:37pm

Yes, not much separation there.
They are filling Sugar and I am not, so I'm sure they won't be changing their style.

CTW crushed it. Love the new tunes. New drummer is the perfect fit. Jan 30 at Logans is going to be another good 1. - Sat, 23 Jan 2010 6:38pm

Agreed. CTW were awesome. Bison...they just didn't seem to have the intensity they had a year ago. Regardless, a good time was had! - Sat, 23 Jan 2010 9:12pm

I've been wandering the street a lot on Friday nights hoping to stumble upon a Metal show and came across this show. Archon had already finished and I hadn't even heard of the other bands so I wasn't sure what to expect. It sounded good from outside of sugar so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Crown the Wolf was awesome despite missing a lot of their set. Their songs were really upbeat, their playing was tight, and they were a really fun band. The place was packed which was provided a lot of energy. The bad part was all the drunks stumbling around. The top half of their body seems to lead the rest so they bump into you with their shoulder pretty fast and then slowly walk by.

BISON was even tighter sounding with excellent stage presence, they had a wall of sound and more energy than a dyslexic tree frog on acid. While they appear to be an excellent band I didn't enjoy them as much as Crown the Wolf. Their music was a mixed bag. While some are saying everything blended together it did in some ways but for me their old songs stood out and were a lot more edgy and hard-rock like while their newer songs were quite long and drone like. Still a really good band and although I've never even heard them before it's obvious their musical style has been evolving so it may not capture everyone's interests. - Wed, 27 Jan 2010 11:15am

what was wrong with that review? The guy didnt rave about CTW very much, but thats just personal opinion which most reviewers have. To insinuate that its because he is a friend of Archon's is a tad over-reactive no? - Mon, 1 Feb 2010 9:19am

The only strange thing I found about the review at first glance was the "Nick" and "Kyle" business.
What's up with that? Those are their real names last I checked. - Mon, 1 Feb 2010 5:34pm
