Melodic death metalers Reaver and the progressive For Your Liberation are taking over Evolution Nightclub on Thursday February 4th, not only for a night of blazing, face-melting shred, but also to attempt to bring heavy metal shows to friday nights at Evo.

If we are successful in packing the house, Evolution will begin holding shows on Friday nights. Imagine a time when you are actually able to drink and go nuts without fear of an impending workday. It would be sweet wouldn't it?

So we urge you all to come out and brave the late hour and blaring metal for a cause!!! Anyone who is a fan of live metal should make time for this show, nott o mention both bands will make it worth your money.

Doors are at 9. Music at 10. Price will be posted as soon as I know. - Wed, 6 Jan 2010 12:58pm

Alright so the order will be For Your Liberation, followed by Rotterdam and then Reaver. Tickets will be 7 bucks ahead of time and 9 at the door. If you want early tickets feel free to buy them from Old School Tattoos, M-16 Hair Armory or even any of the band members from any of the bands.

Also, if you've seen Reaver before, I can assure you this will be worth coming to check out since we are busting out 2 new songs for the first time and a mystery cover. - Thu, 14 Jan 2010 3:44pm

I'll be out front selling the rest of our tickets.
$2 cheaper and Evo will see none of the proceeds, band will see all of it.
Not many left, so get down early enough to grab one. - Wed, 3 Feb 2010 10:34pm

Great turnout and a really great show. Rotterdam played a sweet as fuck Down cover.

Sound may have been a bit iffy but I didn't give a fuck since the bodies were pilling up on the stage while we played... that's an awesome feeling - Fri, 5 Feb 2010 12:41pm Edited: Fri, 5 Feb 2010 12:41pm

Thanks to Reaver for having us out! We had a blast. Great turn out for a Thursday. We found out that even though the bar was packed quite full, it wasn't up to Evo's twisted standards.
Their idea of what a Friday show constitutes made me laugh pretty hard when I found out, so it's no big loss...and no big surprise that there was a shell game going on there.
As for the show, the room looked fairly full to me.
For Your Liberation put forth some epic heavy metal with some crazy skills. Atmosphere was plentiful and heavy passages were flowing. Once these young lads get some more shows and years under their belts, it should be quite the sight.
We were the odd ones out again, just how we like it. We felt our set was a success tightness wise. Good energy up there and out there. Some people seemed confused when we started playing due to the nature of the show, but they eventually looked less confused and were polite to let us play on.
Unfortunately, I got booked into work for an early start time today, so I didn't get to stay for more than three songs of Reaver's set. What I did manage to catch was tight, pummeling and heavy. Reaver and The Deception will make for excellent show mates for years to come. Great job on your set from what I've heard and putting on a successful Thursday night show at a bar that everyone seems to have a problem with.
And thanks to Mr. Soundman for being patient and doing a fine job for us all!

So can we play Friday nights or not?

You can't test a "Friday night turnout" until you actually try it on a FRIDAY FUCKING NIGHT... morons...

P.S. Good show. FYL are a bunch of super kiddies but they seriously need to write some non-soundtrack songs that actually engage a live audience (they aren't Pink Floyd ffs)...

First time seeing Reaver, good shit but need to see you guys in a club that has a bottom end (like Lucky) where the thundering double bass can make a difference... - Sat, 6 Feb 2010 12:58am Edited: Sat, 6 Feb 2010 1:00am

Yeah I noticed I could not hear the double kick for any of the bands playing that night. That's too bad since we have a shit ton of it in our songs.

As for Fridays, apparently it is not going to happen. That's all I'm going to say. - Sat, 6 Feb 2010 11:32am

So how much did they ding the bands? full $500 as usual?

Seems odd they dont just buy a house PA and hire a soundguy for the standard $150.

4 shows per month x $500 over the course of approx 3 years worth of shows = $72K.. methinks that could buy a PA and a few mic stands. - Mon, 8 Feb 2010 10:26am

We were all given a set amount of tickets to sell in advance.
Whatever they took at the door, they seem to have kept because we didn't see a penny of that.
I was not told any final numbers, so I have no idea how badly they screwed anyone.
It was fun anyway and it was a great turn out...in light of that, they were never going to hand over entire Friday nights to begin with.
Rotterdam are done with that bar until they change some things. - Mon, 8 Feb 2010 2:08pm

Okay so the soundguy ding was around 280 or something like that (from what I have heard). That is almost exactly what was made at the door I think so they took it all (once again, just what I've heard). Despite not seeing any money from the door we managed to make close to 700 bucks so I'm not going to complain about that aspect.

Like Steve said, it was a really good turnout and a damn fun show but some of the business behind it was a little on the sketch side. It stands as the most people I've seen in that bar at once though (for a metal show). - Mon, 8 Feb 2010 3:00pm
