| Mike S User Info... | I use a dual. I think one of the main differences between single/dual/triple is the overall power output.. So if you plan to jam in smaller rooms and you like a more driven sound then a single might be best because the tubes will saturate at a lower volume.. I find the triples to be overkill for any practical purpose unless you are after a more 'hard rock' sound because you will have to turn it up pretty high to really saturate the tubes for a metal overdrive sound. Not great when you jam in 400 sq foot room and play shows at coffee shops. With my dual I jam with the volume at about 3 or 4, but we have a room the size of a closet. In live situations I often have the sound person trying to get me to turn down and inevitably I end up between 2-4 on the dial. If Id been using a triple, all my saturation would be gone leaving behind a crusty grungy guitar tone which Im definately not after. | FISH User Info... | I also use a dual. I agree with Mike that the difference is pretty much the output. single is 50w, duals are 100w and triples are 150w. Keep in mind the future maintnence costs as well, Replacing tubes on a Triple is gonna cost you a shitload of money. Mine was done just before I bought it for a price tag of 400$. If you can find an older used dual they're much more sought after. | Dopebilly User Info... | I have an old triple just put all new tubes in it cost under 250$, sounds better now that the stock mesa tubes are out. the difference is in the amount of rectifier tubes used.. 1 = single = up to 50 watts 3= triple= upto 150 watts.. blah blah blah when you use tube rectification the output is less you need to go to silicone (diode) for full power. you also gotta get the opto switching in the right position and channels doubled up for Max out put. I stick with tube rectification and only double up when it's time to get loud. so I like the triple, but I do think they (recto) are a little sterile and get lost in the mix. if your stuck on mesa check out the lone star special with 4 = EL84 sounds a lot warmer than rectumfriers. If ya got a bunch of money try Matamps they rock if your lucky get an old Garnet "Deputy" or "BTO" - Wed, 16 Dec 2009 7:29pm | ||

| Lucius User Info... | The 6505+ is not new. I has been around for at least 6 years. In fact the 5150 III (with fender) has been around for 3 years or so. You posted something during namm week which is why I figured you had some information (like perhaps he moved back to peavey).
