Focus more on making your music better. Spend less time on here, and more time polishing your guitar licks. If you ARE good, the fame you deserve will come in time. If you aspire to be famous before you're good, you'll only be disappointed. Let the music speak for you, so you don't have to run your mouth all the time. I'm not trying to be a "hater", but I would like to give an honest to god review of your music, or at least the song on your myspace. It sounds like there's some pretty serious timing issues at the very beginning of the song, when the two guitars play the synchronized lines, and right after the first cymbal hit the drums sound off. It seems like you guys settled in a bit after that though, and the timing issues subside. There's some guitars lines though that are a bit sloppy, and I think they'd sound better tightened up. I know you've said that you're not a lead guitarist, but if you're gonna succeed in anything beyond pissing people off on livevic, you're really going to need to work on your chops. Your drummer sounds pretty decent, aside from the timing issues at the start. The part with the two guitars at about 4:30 in is pretty bad, mostly due to the extremely airy/distorted sound of one of the guitars. The song composition itself (minus lyrics of course) is pretty average and I find it a little old or tiresome. There's nothing to this song to really grab someone or make them take notice. Some people probably would like seeing you play live though, as your brand of rock does enjoy a healthy following (I like to call it Chad-rock). I'm also not surprised that you won the BOTB at the Cambie, as from what I've seen from my trips to the Cambie, there's a lot of Chad-rock fans there. I, personally, do not like Chad-rock. | Fableway User Info... | don't drink or eat dairy. I'd say eat healthy, but I always have Mcdicks before a session, it puts me in my comfort zone. The most important thing I could possibly think of, is be totally relaxed, have nothing else on your plate, have no one there who will make you feel like you're not doing awesome. I often find it helps to only have non-band members there when I'm laying down vox, because I don't feel as judged or as though I need to try as hard, and that keeps me relaxed, which leads to better performance. Comfort, no time pressure, no life stress, no one who might bring you down or say, "that sucked," or "nope," or anything along those lines. It's important to be totally relaxed, and not feeling like your performance hinges on that day. I really don't consider myself a rock star lol, but I think I've recorded enough songs to know this much. Hope that helps grim, and Provoke the Gods tune sounds really good. I dig the galloping triplets on the guitar, good timing. Make sure you overdub the singing parts so they have more body. The screaming parts sound fine. Brigde has a mega cool riff. You think this board is bad; just imagine what the billions of other people would think. Are you gunna go and defend him them? Are you going to go infront of national tv and call out every musician who has an opinion? I specifically do not post on my bands credit here; because its NOT FAIR TO THEM unless I have explicit permission to post our material from the others; and I would still post it under our band moniker than my personal account. Why should I feel justified in "proving" myself to you or anyone else? What I do; I do for the enjoyment I get out of it, if there happens to be one or more fans along the way... great; if not and they're all haters... oh well, at least I still have fun. If you want my honest opinion of the hartless, I think they need ALOT of work; but that goes for ANY band that's just forming. Personality wise(from what I've read on here), Codine needs to just back off and not take everything here so personally(everyone has goals; but we dont need to impress them on others). Musically, the songs have structure... no real "hooks" ... no real melody that sticks out or is tight enough to remember. But with hard work and dedication(which i hope they have and do well) this can all be worked out... but coming on here tossing around the comments HE initially made (as OP on the thread remember) will start a wild fire. Now since it has started a wild-fire; it has not increased my curiosity to see this band(much like the perish imo). I've already made my mind up after this thread and listening to them... they're just not my bag, but they aren't "bad musicians"... just not a seasoned tight sound to them, yet. I heard a band(local) that aren't very known yet; but they're pretty kool guys.
