Yup, Pete "Wardell" did that. I also found the poster from when we played with Red Tide and the Dayglos. Used to have a VHS of that gig. What a fun one, out of control.

Also found the guest list from that DOA gig. You'd probably recognize some names Curmudgeon. - Fri, 9 Oct 2009 7:10pm Edited: Fri, 9 Oct 2009 7:11pm

Hi Y'all hope your all good.

one site that had a ton was http://www.punkhistorycanada.ca

also Vancouver PuNk Scott Beadle has his myspace photos public so you can check em out. It's some serious compilation of Vancouver and a small splatter of Victoria. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewAlbums&friendID=252701084

I remember Mr.M saying he was bringing this real great up and coming band to Harpos. We went and checked em out on his suggestion. I think after 4-5 songs we where bored so we left. Who would have imagined they would become such big superstars of ROCK. YEAHA YEAHA.

I saw the smalls at the Limit... what a great band!

Speaking of Gig posters if you don't own this book it might be worth hunting down. http://www.amazon.ca/Fucked-Up-Photocopied-Instant-Movement/dp/1584230002

shameless plug..... get down to DITCH or Lyles and pic up a copy of ALL YOUR EARS CAN HEAR! Victoria underground 1978-84. Book/Cd.... BUY IT NOW!

Blah blah cough cough I'll shut up now. Love -ricky - Tue, 13 Oct 2009 7:44pm Edited: Tue, 13 Oct 2009 8:14pm

i went down there near the end to take more pics, but I was too late.
nobody seemed to know what happened to all the gig posters.
That Pearl Jam show was either 91, 92, or 93.
i did a lot of substances back then, and cant always remember what year things happened

Hey, its funny you guys brought up old posters. I was talking with Nev last weekend and he's trying to put the finishing tweaks on a poster archive as part of Livevic. Basically a way to view all the posters we have in our archive already, from our site and The Royal City Music Project (RCMPsite.com) and of course the ability to add old posters as well.

As usual Nev's poking away it at in his spare time but it should be cool once he gets it online. - Wed, 14 Oct 2009 7:13pm

It might have been 1982.

We, OFFICE (not "The" OFFICE) then based in Edmonton, were in Calgary, at the Calgarian for a week.

Husker Du were on the road and wanting to grab a backup spot.

We weren't particularly fond of what we had heard of their music and we didn't much like their attitude but, in the spirit of comradery among musicians, we conceded and gave them the first set (We had never heard of SFY and they never showed up - the first we heard of them was when we saw the poster after the gig).

The poster was one they quickly made up (we never even saw it until after the gig) despite the fact that we had already made and ditributed our own poster for the gig (I'll dig a copy out to scan for posting here later).

Our drummer, Phil Young, had just completely replaced all the heads on his beautiful custom made Milestone kit.

Since Husker Du's skin pounder was almost entirely lacking in technique, he literally destroyed 4 drum heads.

We should never have let that neanderthal use our drum kit!

Best not to lend gear to players you haven't watched doing their thing on other equipment for a while.

After the gig, just as we were about to ask them to pay to replace the heads, they had the audacity to ask for a percentage of our earnings!

They became hostile and refused to pay, saying the kit and heads were bad and not installed properly (not that their drummer would have been able to tell).

Needless to say, we didn't pay them a cent.

P.S. I think the idea of a featured poster archive is excellent. - Wed, 21 Oct 2009 11:13am Edited: Wed, 21 Oct 2009 11:19am

haha, nice story.

The poster archive is almost ready to go. We're just working out the easiest way to let you upload to it. To do that you'll either need to list the show or upload to a show listing thats already in the system (you can just search the archives by band to see if its already in there). You'll love it!

In the meantime, some of you might have noticed that we've finally made it so that you can view posters when you click anyone's past shows, so the posters we have are all visible already. More than 1000 on LiveVic and 2000 on LiveVan.

If anyone would like to upload anything ahead of time (before the gallery goes live), give me a shout and I'll help you out. - Wed, 21 Oct 2009 12:15pm
