This album isn't out until February sometime, but through the magic of internet piracy (although I'll certainly buy it when it comes out) I now have it in its entirety. This album is so rad from start to finish, not one even remotely weak song. My only problem with the album is it only has eight tracks on it (not including the cover of Deicide's "Lunatic of God's Creation"). Good mix of the old school death metal sound of Winds.. and the intricacy of Nihility. The singer has stepped it up a notch, he enunciates his vocals alot better and places them in more difficult time signatures. Their drummer rocks hard, as do the guitars, any fan of Decapitated (or metal for that matter) should own this album. Definitely the first "must own" for 2004. - Thu, 8 Jan 2004 12:04pm

I managed to hear most of it through the magic of piracy as well. This review pretty much sums it up. Like a trip back to "Winds of Creation" but with a vengence. Intense stuff and tight as hell, but that's usual for the kings of True Death metal.... - Thu, 8 Jan 2004 7:35pm

I cannot wait for this album.

Another Decapitated release that rules is The First Damned. It's a collection of their demos The Eye of Horus and Cemeteral Gardens. Fucking killer. Both recorded when some of the band members were as young as 12 and 13 (unbelievable). Also includes two live tracks. Why did they drop off of the Cannibal Corpse tour? OH WHY???? - Fri, 9 Jan 2004 8:55am

For any of you who don't have this yet, if you've got anything good you want to trade (i.e. good vids/mp3's I require) then I'll certainly trade with you over msn messenger. Ask Dod's Anger, I gots me some good shit, and he's benefitted greatly from it. mkay? - Sat, 10 Jan 2004 11:11am

It's interesting that, although you folks have "pirated" this record it seems that the majority of you actually plan to buy the genuine article when it becomes available. I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of music fans who download stuff end up buying at least a portion of what they download eventually at least when it comes to music that is a bit off the beaten track. For my part I have occasionally "sampled" the odd thing (such as the recent Miles Davis boxset) but I also bought it the second it came out. I'm guessing that most serious music fans do this. Well i dont feel bad ripping off major labels. Decapitated is on Earache, which isn't that major. So invest my hard earned cash to these young Polish boys with a passion for metal & their fantastic label. They need my Canadian money. - Sat, 10 Jan 2004 2:10pm

I like having the entire presentation, hence I try to buy albums whenever I can (i.e. artwork, lyrics, etc.) Hell, I even enjoy reading the liner notes. I have no problem whatsoever justifying downloading music from established, financially well-off artists, but I definitely try to buy any/every metal release if I can. I'm pretty sure that almost every metal band that I listen to (aside from maybe 3-4 bands) is struggling to get by, so buying their disc most likely helps the guys out. Plus, mp3's lack the sound quality that a finished, studio album does. - Sun, 11 Jan 2004 7:52am

Finally somebody who points out the painfully obvious. MP3's sound like shit and I'm sure a good cassette would sound better. And I agree wholeheartedly; I want the whole package, the notes, the artwork, etc. There are a lot of CD's (from Japan especially) that are printed on really exotic paper with a lot of neat coloured inks etc. The challenge for todays record companies is to provide a product that encompasses more than just the audio content of an album, especially to the more ardent fans of an artist. A good example of this is Radiohead who go to great pains to create cover artwork that is worth owning in addition to their music, and who provide alternate, limited editions of their covers during the initial release phase of their records. Smart. - Sun, 11 Jan 2004 9:08pm
