He was, right up until he decided to break Andy Kerr's nose at a gig where he was beating up his girlfriend (Eaton's that is). Instant pariah! - Sun, 4 Jan 2004 4:03pm

Oh I know, Mike Walker and myself were the ones that jumped in to stand up for Andy. I had a broken arm in a cast, and ended up getting a skate board smacked into it as I was pulling guys off of Mike, it was no fun at all. I do believe it was actually Darren Richardson the old singer from Atrosity that nailed me with the skate board. Love that right back to the hospital for me. - Sun, 4 Jan 2004 5:54pm

I live down the street from Spriggs - gonna ask him - he has a great video from the Esquimalt Rec Centre Show I put on about a million years ago ??1990?? (the kid that was helping me lug the PA around and do sound was Ian Jones who went on to form a band that got signed with Virgin Records - Pluto) the show was done by 11:15 and everyone was gone but I got nothing but grief from the Esquimalt City Council of rthat show - what a great night - although some really drunk guy did bleed on me after I threw him out for fighting - geez - dem were da daze! - Fri, 9 Jan 2004 8:44pm

bwahahah, and I was the other half of that fight. I remember talking to you and he came up and picked the fight with me and wouldnt leave it alone till I finally popped him one. What a great show shutdown had time for one last song so they did a medley of four songs back to back that way they were always playing their last song. - Fri, 9 Jan 2004 9:10pm

I moved out here when Shutdown was tearin' up the shite, 1990.
Good times all of those nights that I saw them.
Remember when the SUB, UVIC had gigs there on a regular basis? - Fri, 9 Jan 2004 10:28pm

that is too much - ya that guy was pretty wacked - and that was before he was drinking - there was also his little brother - the 10 year old I found drinking in the bathroom! - amazing what shows up at a show - would be great to see Shutdown play again though (not to mention Section 46 and one of my local favs - Nothing to Lose) - Sun, 11 Jan 2004 8:23am

A reunion? C'mon. Which incarnation would seriously contemplate doing this? Morr and Dust comprise the only common link, but the different versions of the band have totally different sounds and songs. Morr lives far away and Dust already plays in more bands than the pairs of sock I own at any one time. Who was the drunk-talker responsible for this hogwash? Has anyone heard the very last recording they did with Bill (flat-top-pone) Crapelle? - Wed, 14 Jan 2004 6:43am

Sprigs and Shrimpton quit the band under not very friendly terms, so as if they would be part of any reunion project. However I am sure they could start up their little ska project again if they wanted to. Duffy was a rad guy but who knows where he is now? Saw Eaton in Calgary a few years ago and he was weirded out and has faded away again. Joe90 is in Calgary w/ MarkMorr playing in Dry Fisted, which happen to be doing a couple of Shutdown songs (ones written by Joe and Mark) so if you want a taste of that, go to http://www.dry-fisted.com and there is an MP3 on there til we get our 13 song disk back in a month - Wed, 14 Jan 2004 8:00am

Hey Joe, just like old Victoria times, huh? Hey Ross_Bay, are you Aaron???
Dude, I though Dust was in Keg Killers, Burnside Brawlers and some Turbonegro cover band (or was that Jono??). Who all is in those bands? I know DeLuca sings for the brawlers, but who else?? I heard the new Keg Killers, very Fang and Sick Pleasure-ish, good to see Dust keeps his roots. - Thu, 15 Jan 2004 2:49am

Aaron: we'll be out to Van in April for a 2 night CD release pard, if there is enough interest in Vic, we could make it over there too.
Brad: I have one Shutdown 7" left to my name. Although I may be bribed into giving it up. I want the unreleased Ninth Hour tho. The last couple of times we played Van I hung out w/ Stefan and played w/ his band, Cum Soc. Fuckin Rad.
J Brown: Yeah, I bit off a little more than I could chew w/ that photo shoot, prior to that I have had absolutely NO "modelling" experience (Nerve editor's words, not mine), but it was still fucking fun as hell. Talk about a deer caught in the headlights! HAHA
Ross: Dust is a great guy to be in a band with and I am sure DeLuca must make things interesting too. We almost had a gig w/ Keg Killers at Festival of Guns, that sucked it didn't pan out. Maybe April??? - Fri, 16 Jan 2004 2:35am

Had a blast at Shredfest, Forbidden Plateau show was killer fun, too. Morr and I now wreak havoc on occassion here in Cowtown. Funny chit ensues when Morr and I pard- some things don't change. I can't decide which Morr incident is more funny, the pepper-spray in the Vic cop-shop elevator one, or the Vinny Sausage Pizza Head one, or is it the drank all the Cows beer one. I would dig playing in Vic again. - Tue, 20 Jan 2004 7:06am

Ya, that I was in. What's your new project, and who's in it? I started jammin with Dust and Morr soon after I moved to Vic, when they were in Atrosity. Then, when Shutdown splintered, I joined up with Shad. Now, I'm a third nostril with Dry Fisted, to be used at their will like a bored-out whore. I put together a studio over the last few years, and have been working on my own project called Tzar Bomba. Even dusted off a couple of my favorite 6FU tunes, cause I hated the sound of that demo; and have redone a couple songs that Shutdown recorded in the end, but never released. I play all the stuff on it, and it's basically hard shit. Morr will probably make a couple of contributions along the way, just cause I need some star-power attached to the project. Hoping to start releasing songs on a yet to be built website soon. Hear that kids? Fuckin TZAR BOMBA. BTW, anyone seen Chris Locker around? I always liked that dude. - Tue, 20 Jan 2004 11:40am

Hey Joe and Mark!! Long time no see. Drop me an email if youre coming to Whistler sometime. Love to see you!

Yah Shred Fest! Anyone remember that annoying dude named Ozzy. He was really bugging me. Then Dustin, my hero grabbed this guy Ozzy's guitar and mashed it over his head. Thanks Dust. What topped my morning off, Reid drove Dustin's truck into our tent missing my head by an inch. Memories. Ill try and scan some of my old pictures of Shutdown performing for you all to see. Got to figure out how to use the scanner first. - Tue, 20 Jan 2004 12:26pm

if there is one thing Joe AIN'T, its a 3rd nostril! Its so rad jammin w/ him again and he brings a LOT to the table. I have heard the TZAR BOMBA shit and you won't be disappointed. Heavy, super clean sounding and catchy as hell! I will contribute anything I can so as long as to be part of the project.
Alladin: Hey Sarah, how goes it? Whistler huh? NICE. Actually at the Shred Fest when someone was revving up a van in the middle of the night, that was Kenny Chow and Murray A pulled him out of the driver's door and thrashed him b4 he could do any damage, but that could have been scary as hell. If you could scan some pics of that show and send them to me that would rule, I am trying to archive all that old shit.
Wreaker: stoked to hear that new chit mang, keep me posted as to when I can score some mp3's.
Brad: Wish I could get over to the Cobalt to see your show, but I am coming out there on Feb 6 to drive down to Seattle for TSOL. I really want that unreleased Ninth Hour CD. I have been cranking my cassettes of Subservient Masses and Nice Attempt At Nothing Special. I still remember the 1st time I saw you guys play, in Bonehead's basement. hey morr! email me your addy and i'll send you out a copy! that would have been our second show in vic (the first was the night before at the death pit in esquimalt)...we tore all our gear down (we were recording at the dollhouse) and headed over and played that show...went back to scott's that night...set up and finished recording the next day...pretty fucked up! - Wed, 21 Jan 2004 12:15pm
