Hello to all.

For those of you who do and those who don't, about three years ago a dear friend, soul and spirit of the brentwood and downtown victoria community passed away. Andrew Cavers died tragically in his sleep after finally starting to see the light at the end of so many life struggles. A friend and I came across a memorial fund started years ago to errect a bench in his name in the Brentwood community. Dru use to hang out on the benches there a lot, you could always count on seeing him and his smile. The fund is not yet complete and Logans has been kind enough to lend us a venue on August 2nd (a sunday- Also Andrew's birthday in which he would have turned 25) to complete the fundraiser and tribute to someone who was a large part of many hearts. If your band would be willing to play this show, please contact me. I would be very touched to if any of you are able to help/play/donate to this show.

No Don’t Stop’s debut album Lipsync Karaoke plays like a drive to the beach along the winding roads of Vancouver Island. From the gospel tinged track of “Ballad of the Black Keys” to the junk percussion anthem of “Buzzard Banjo”, from the Pixies-esque “I Don’t Mind” to the tail feather shaking “Deader Than Heaven”, and from a Neil Young-ian “Grizzly Coast” to the beatnik road trip of “Smooth Ride to D-Town”, Lipsync Karaoke is a collection of songs and styles found ashore like the broken bottle ship on the cover.

Recorded, mixed, hand-stamped and hand packaged by this Cowichan Bay, BC indie rock band, Lipsync Karaoke is a stylish example of a do-it-yourself project gone right.

No Don’t Stop began 2011 producing a second album. “Mudflat Picnic” contains 12 tracks recorded live off the floor in a kitchen. Nearing completion, it showcases a more rustic and rural acoustic sound written from backyards, country verandas, living room pianos and campfires. Release dates to be announced.

2011 show highlights were the Spot Prawn Festival and Cowichan Summer Festival.
2010 highlights included a Western Canada swing, Rifflandia Festival and a headlining slot at GongFest. They also organized the first ever Rock n Bowl show in their home town to celebrate the release of Lipsync Karaoke. These boys are stopping at nothing to give show-goers a good time.

What style of music are you thinking for the show? What did Andrew like? - Sun, 21 Jun 2009 2:55pm

Andrew had an eclectic taste of music. But I would definately want to show to a punk/metal feel to it - Sun, 21 Jun 2009 5:06pm

Year of the Rat could put together probably a 30 minute or set for this. We're new and untested, mind you, but the price is right :)

Most of the recordings on there are pretty garbagey, but you'll get an idea of our style anyway. - Mon, 22 Jun 2009 12:17pm
