The latest from Queens of the Stone Age is good but no Songs for The Deaf.

There are some great songs, I like the single, "Little Sister" and track two "Medication." The disc also comes with a DVD which I have not fired up yet. Over all, it is a fun listen and like the spacey rock riffage and weird sounds and that bounce off your brain. The band starts it off with more point and shoot style of rock and saves the wanking indulgance for the later tracks which is nice as I can either fire it up for a short drive or settle into the album while making tacos or vacuuming.

Rolling Stone gave it three *** and you can read a better review than I can write here: http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/album/_/id/6864851/queensofthestoneage?pageid=rs.Home&pageregion=triple1&rnd=1111797310203&has-player=true&version=6.0.11.847

The only thing lacking from this album are Nick's bass lines and backing vocals.
Other than that, I think this is a solid release with vocals that soar with ease over the off-kilter, yet catchy music.
I also dig the odd sounds they use for the guitars and bass.
The DVD is pretty damn cool too! Funny interview and great video for 'Someone's In The Wolf', plus all that 'recording of' footage. My only complaint is that it wasn't, although it's fairly lengthy.

I think he's totally grooving the 70's vibe of calling girls "sisters" and not really into making it with relatives. But that could just be blind hope... - Sun, 3 Apr 2005 7:21am
