I heard a bit of this disc on CFUV. I like it a lot, they paint some pretty epic soundscapes. Tried to buy it but Ditch and A&B had none :( If I can ever manage to pay off my Visa then I can do some internet shopping.

Interesting link... I typed Isis Band into google and came across this bit of rock history:

I agree! Isis are one of my favorite bands simply because of the soundscapes they paint so well. Atmosphere, in my humble opinion, is the most important element in music. Oceanic is also a brilliant piece of work. I love nothing more than artists who's music grows along with the individuals creating it. I say start with their album Celestial and move forward from there!

Very interesting about the female group named Isis. I'd be very interested in hearing what they created. - Mon, 3 Jan 2005 1:42am

Not a bad album....but not the best they've done(their peak being The Red Sea IMO).

At this point I think I'm more interested in Old Man Gloom. - Mon, 3 Jan 2005 2:54am

when i saw them play vancovuer recently they played the whole panopticon album and just one off of oceanic.. it was a good way to be introduced to the album seems how they have lost most of my interest after releasing a remixes album of oceanic and now another heavy ambient album in panopticon. in my opinion start with celestial and work back.. the red sea and mosquito control were some seriously pummelling albums and celestial appears to be their pinacle. Old Man Gloom is some good stuff as well.. though more like early isis than new stuff. if you liked celestial.. then get ahold of some Pelican.. i was listenign to an album last night and they appear to rock pretty hard. - Mon, 3 Jan 2005 10:23am

I can't believe no one has even mentioned Neurosis on this thread yet....
If you like ISIS you'll love Neurosis

and i must say Panopticon is a work of beauty... not nearly as heavy as Celestial but way more atmosperic

i really wish they would have played Deconstructiong Towers at the show - Sat, 5 Feb 2005 5:39pm

No need to mention the obvious(Since early Isis was totally, and self admittingly, neurosis worship.) - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 5:51pm
