HI.

my name is Rob and I play guitar in AK47.
I have just finished the creation and upload of the "official" AK47 website which will replace the one that was posted here several years ago (and was never run by the band, incidentally)

Go to: http://www.akfortyseven.net for band news, live show announcements, lyrics, band history etc... or to contact the group.

Thanks,

Nicely done Mr. Nesbitt. Nice picture of my arm. You guys played a great set at the last show, personally I think she should of had the footage of you falling on the floor for the website. - Thu, 5 Jun 2003 6:50pm
j You fools preach Maoism but don't practice it. Are you stockpiling weapons in preparation of a people's war? Are you indocrinating peasents? Participating in mass agitation of industrial workers? I didn't think so. There is more to being a Maoist than running around with stupid fucking Mao pins and your copy of his little red book. Mao's benign reputation is not desereved. Terror and violence were the result of the ideological utopias he had pursued. He had ruined millions of lives in the Great Leap Foreward, the Cultural Revolution and the wholesale forced migrations. Mao had attempted to ensure that as his life drew to a close the revolutionary fire would not be extinguished with him. The excesses of the Cultural Revolution, however, taught some of the chinese leadership a bitter lesson in the dangers of Mao's line of thought and action. Mao thought in terms of history and destiny, of the quarter of humanity that was chinese, of the fate of the world. In an almost Godlike fashion he never doubted his mandate, and became impatient as he grew older. The sacrifice of millions of Chinese to promote the fulfilment of China's "destiny" counted for little in the scales of history as he saw them. Justifying the means by the end took on the most frightening aspects when applied to the lives of whole peoples by the Twentieth century ideolical messiahs; they were tyrannical and ruthless in their search for a better world. Mao was one of these messiahs. You guys seem too intellegent to buy into this nonsense. Perhaps your energy should be applied to something a little more realistic.... - Thu, 5 Jun 2003 7:17pm
Anonymous Mao DID kill more people than Hitler, by a dizzying longshot, though he killed more or less indescriminantly. If Mao was more openly prejudicial in any part of his "revolutionary" slaughterings, the world would be a lot less accepting of Maoism. If China wasn't communist anylonger, or if their trades with the world weren't as vital as they are, the public opinion of Maoism would be radically different. I will never get why it's completely socially acceptable to be in favor of quite possibly the most ruthless regime in history, while being a nazi or a facist (as horroble a thing it is to be either) is frowned upon, though the Maoists killed more than the Nazis & were way way worse than the facists in every way. As it stands though, AK47 are allowed to preach as they do & I dig their music. Nice website, too, boys. - Fri, 6 Jun 2003 10:31am
chairman meow Love him or hate him, the facts speak for themselves. Mao united China completely (including Tibet, unfortunately) and nobody has been able to do that for, oh, about 1000 years. China has never been better off; sure there are some problems still, but nothing like if the old warlord system were still in place. China is finally a major player on the world stage, something it had previously NEVER been despite having a goodly chunk of the world's population. The Chinese have always been brutal to their own people; Mao was just continuing a long tradition. Give 'em 50 or so more years of the status quo and they'll rule the world. If they ever figure out how to make good, cheap cars (or beer) us white trash folks are fucked. - Fri, 6 Jun 2003 1:23pm
Anonymous The only reason China is a player on the world stage now is because it's leadership jettisoned Moa's docrine after he died, while playing lip service to it's slogans and writings. The leadership realized that to continue with his megalomanic policies would have resulted in a huge contraction of China's economy and mass famine for it's people. Everyone of Mao's policies, from the Great Leap Foreward to the cultural revolution, ended in complete failure and catastrophe.I'll admitt that Moa united China, but at a huge cost to it's citizens. Ask some of those who lived through it if it was worth it. - Fri, 6 Jun 2003 5:28pm
Anonymous He united china? that's a load of swill & I feel terrible that you ate it & tried to pawn it off to everyone else as a legitemate argument. China was united in the sense that only people who were willing to keep their mouths shut for sake of their lives were left living. It's rediculously easy for a bunch of folk living in the best coutry in the world, quality of life wise, to be all about revolution at any cost, when all "revolution" costs them is 25$ for a Mao or Che t-shirt printed on Hanes cotton & sewn together by chinese sweatshops, again thanx to the all glorious Maoist regime. The literal sense of the word freedom has never had any place in the Maoist state. Religion, belief, even sexuality & anything of the likes are all completely subject to government control, not freedom. Protests against the government are concidered acts of treason & punishable by execution without legitemate trial. The doctrines Mao wrote about fighting for the people are loads of autocratic tripe. He abused the common man & woman for his parties personal gain & violently at that, and ended lives to better those that would abide by his ruling. Again, worse than the Nazis & facists combines & doubled. - Fri, 6 Jun 2003 10:20pm

History Buff Do some long term research on China and then maybe go live there before you ananymously pass judgement on free thinking and political ideology. - Sat, 7 Jun 2003 11:49am
