Well Gramps hit the town last night.
First off James bay to enjoy AK 47 and jerk Ward at an all ages show, in my opinion where they should be seen.
Now I am not waxing nostalgic here, hands down one of the best gigs I've seen in a long time.

AK 47, been a long time, Tony and the boys/gal in their glory
and they sounded great.
Sorry missed one band they did a real short set and gramps gotta smoke his weed or the arthritis sets in.

Cobras Cobras cobras...pretty cool, love the rhodes, nice to see what the youngins are up tp these days, I liked this band.

Jerk Ward...now when I saw them reformed at the book release I was in heaven, but let me tell you, with the dual assault of Kev and Steve on guitars I was blown away.
I don't care what genre of music you like, If you like loud dirty guitars and anything heavy you would be a fool to miss this band.
Very interesting to see this band 27 years later, older better musicians, better gear...but every single ounce of energy and enthusiasm of a 12 year old. I really was in true Hardcore heaven, y'all missed a lesson in rawk last night.
Was also very cool to see so many of the old crowd out at an all ages show.
This ain't a case of a bunch of aold dudes gettin all teary eyed over the past...This Victoria history as well as true Hardcore at its starting point.

Then I swung by Logans and caught Run Like Hells set....ch..ch..chunky, nice to see the boys keeping it real.

I got home pulled out my old cassetes and was left with the thought that if anything Victoria really has an identity and a great diversity that not really a lot of other scenes have.

Support LIVE music get off yer asses and go see whats up in this city. - Sun, 8 Feb 2009 11:29am

That had to be one of the funnest shows I've been to in a loooong time. Bitters and I pulled in just in time to see AK and it was great. I miss seeing them on a regular basis. Truly one of the greatest bands this city has ever produced. At that point my arthritis was also acting up, but my prescription comes in liquid form, so we split for a bit and came back to see the mighty Jerk Ward. I was stunned like a slack-jawed kid standing at the front in awe of the intensity. It felt so alive! I won't miss them next week, you can bet on that! - Sun, 8 Feb 2009 12:00pm

My first all ages show since way back when. I enjoyed every band, each one distinctly different and working out their own paths. No posers, no one who didn't really mean it. Energy high, the expectant crowd loved it and there was real community. I'd go see any of them again, topped off with Jerkward giving it everything they had, which was lots. Werewolf. Great evening. Hands down it beats the junk on the Grammys tonight. - Sun, 8 Feb 2009 9:52pm

It was great seeing both of you there, TY and Steve.
And that goes to the heart of what these shows(and especially the few practices we've had over the last few weeks) have been about to me: Friendship.
Thinking about Randy so much and the past in general has been...interesting.

This show was a ton of fun for me and as an original fan of Jerk Ward it is an honor to play these songs.

I am so looking forward to the Logan's show I can't even tell you so I hope you guys come again and I am expecting even more of the old timers coming out for this one.

Thanks for the kind words.
We tried. - Mon, 9 Feb 2009 10:21am
