Behemoth are SICK. They helped start up the extreme metal scene in Poland about a decade ago, and the music their playing these days is incredibly original death metal, with killer black metal influence. Their musicianship is phenomenal, and I challenge any drummer to be bored watching Inferno on his nine thousand piece kit.

Necronomicon are from the same scene as KATAKLYSM and CRYPTOPSY, and have been around for over fifteen years, as far as I know (but I could be wrong) they haven't been to the island before.

And Gremory's opening!

go buy your ticket right now, and save yourself five bucks. - Mon, 5 Dec 2005 11:47am

Good times.....total fun-osity. I've already gone off about Gremory before. Total wonder-bugs. Definitely a band that'll make a name for themselves if they can actually stick around for a while. (so is that GREMory or GreMORY anyway?) Behemoth were thoroughly all-out rockin' fun. They probably wouldn't like the use of the word "rockin", especially if I threw in a Terry David Mulligan reference from "Good Rockin' Tonight", but I gotta say I'd gladly see them again - great frontman, killer shit, man. - Wed, 7 Dec 2005 8:26am

The singer for Behemoth was so lame he ruined the show for me. Despite the fact that he went on about how he was here to "rape our women", they were unwatchable because of his shitty half-assed rhythm guitar and even weaker vocals combined with him "pumping up the audience" by throwing his hands up and the typical euro "cmon bang your heads!". I almost stayed just to watch the drummer but that singer was such a fucking loser. I left after 3 songs.

Gremory and Enchanted Faeries were good, at least.

PS What was with the sound that night? Gremory kept feeding back and everyone had inconsistant sound from one another. It was hard to hear the riffs. I'm pretty familiar with Gremory so I could tell what they were playing but Behemoth's guitars were just SCHRRGHHHHSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHWSHWSHHHWHSHHHWHWHWHSHSSHW - Fri, 9 Dec 2005 12:38pm

Because that sound guy is the worst sound guy around, he ruins all metal bands sound. Mind you Borehemoth had their own guy so.. He ( house guy ) also tried to throw a mic stand through Borehemoth rythm guitarists speakers but it bounced off the fabric stuff on the front. Or thats what it looked like he did, maybe he was just being clumsy...

yah whats with the raping our women comment? Lame. lets go to rape some Polish girls now.

The whole show was a snooze fest. - Fri, 9 Dec 2005 1:01pm

Thats true. Maybe it had something to do with their endless soundcheck(doing irreprable? damage too my hearing). Loved the duel windmill head banging though. But as for the singer ya i hear ya wtf, would have been better of without him for sure(looks way less cheese when its not live)I still have respect for the mighty Behemoth, the end of a tough tour, and really what can you expect when your only Demi-Godly!(couldn't resist) - Fri, 9 Dec 2005 1:07pm

Guess I'll have to keep quiet about liking Despised Icon too. (except for buddy's air-punching) That's a drag about the raping comment - glad I didn't hear it, or I would've done something rash like zinging paper clips at him with a rubber band, or flinging a broken-in-half bread bag clip at him from the end of my finger. (and those hurt too if you hit your target!) - Fri, 9 Dec 2005 5:21pm

Hahaha, "rape your women," that's funny. It's funny because Manowar sang that in "Hail and Kill!" Total cheese; but then again, I like my cheese, yes I do. The fucking Cenobyte/Hellraiser outfit with the steel-mesh mask is fucking RAD.

I loved the show, but I had to agree I was disappointed with the guitar sound as well. If I wasn't as familiar with Behemoth's material I may not have liked it as much. But hey, they SLAYED! Their fucking stage prescence with the constant windmill action was wicked. The 3-way vocals added a lot to the whole "ritualistic" occult concept they have going on, I think.

Enchanted Faeries' sound wasn't too hot either, their levels seemed unbalanced, which pissed me off cause they're a rad band. It's really disappointing when some sound guys think metal sound is based on volume rather than intensity and frequency. But hey, I got my "Kill for Satan" fix, so I'm pleased.

I think Gremory had the best sound overall. I had only seen Gremory once at the Quadra house and once at Logan's, so that was the best I had seen them. They are probably one of the only technical death metal bands I've seen on the west coast that come close to what Nibiriu (ex-death metal band from up island) did years ago. They would have a serious impact on eastern Canada I think. You guys ever thought of Unique Leader? lol ;) - Fri, 9 Dec 2005 9:25pm

Thank you for the reminder about what was said etc. Its the same old thing where some of us want/need so badly to enjoy music that we tune out the message & intent or hope/trust that we're mistaken just so we can party. fuck the haters.

I saw Behemoth a month before in van with necronomicon so nothing they did really took me by suprise, same outfits and paint and all. Necronomicon with their red leather pants and matching crush velvet shirts sucked anyway so I didn't shed any teers over their failure to arive. I hadn't had the chance to see Gremory bofore and was quite impressed with what I saw. what really caught me off gaurd and mpressed the hell out of me was the Hate eternal cover, it was flawlewss. I look forward to seeing them again. \m/ - Sun, 11 Dec 2005 5:58pm

yeah the sound was fucked due to Behemoth's intense sound check . . leaving little time if any for the other bands. Oh well. I had a blast(peggio) of a time.

If you're interested, here's what happened with the 'soundman' mic stand incident - I was sitting ten feet away and saw it all. Here's what happened:

The rhythm guitar player and the bass player were sharing a microphone during the last song. When they finished the phrase they were singing, the mic stand and/or mic cord got caught in the guitar player's clothing. In order to free himself, he gave the mic stand a bit of a push with his arm or shoulder. From my perspective it didn't appear like the guy was trying to wreck anything; he just wanted to keep playing without having to stop and extricate his clothing from the stand. The mic stand fell off the stage, and the 'soundman' went over to pick it up.

From what I could tell though, Mr. SoundGuy thought that the guitar player had knocked it onto the floor on purpose, with malice. Can't imagine why he would have - he needed it for singing a few seconds later, and ended up sharing the bass player's mic instead. So, Mr. TubbySoundGuy picked up the mic stand and threw it onto the stage right where Mr. Rhythm was playing.

Unfortunately, Mr. Rhythm was at that time heading to the other side of the stage and didn't notice what had happened, so Mr. TSG picked up the mic stand again, and intentionally threw it at Mr. Rhythm's speaker cabinet. It bounced harmlessly off the metal grate and onto the floor.

This time, Mr. Rhythm saw what Mr. TSG (TubbySoundGuy) had done, he gave him the finger. By this time TSG had gone back to his soundboard, and when he saw Mr. Rhythm's gesture, he immediately turned off the volume for all the monitors on the stage.

The fortunate part for the fans was that it was the last song, and there were only a few seconds left by this time, because suddenly Behemoth was completely unable to hear what they were playing. They finished off the song, and that was the end of the show.

I thought for sure that the two of them would get into it after the show, but instead, Mr Rhythm just walked off the stage and didn't come back.

Glad I've never had a soundguy like that! It's almost impossible to play without monitors! It's fortunate that Mr. Rhythm didn't trip over the stand when TSG first threw it onto the stage. - Thu, 22 Dec 2005 4:03am
