Do you think they'd allow an all ager? That'd be the story of the year..lol.... "Hey Mom, can I go to the Dying Fetus show with Jimmy?" There must be some kind of law against that shite. - Thu, 25 Nov 2004 11:34pm

HAHAHAHA Victoria Kicked ass too!! Missed All That Remains due to the show being even earlier then I thought it was (got there at 9pm and Dying Fetus had already started)

The sound at sugar is super lacking since they put in that new rig, they totally dont have the power to cut though like the old system. All that aside Gwar slayed, I haven't had that much fun at a show since I was like 17. I'm now dyed a healthy pink/green.

My only problem with the shitty ass bar is their fuck head door man, you know the guy who keeps threatening the customers,. I thought it was funny to hear Gwars bus driver say that he wanted to see the asshole start some shit with them. Now that would be entertainment!

When I was going in the door guy said

'Dont be a fucking moron, if they have a beard, dont I.D. them'

And yeah, the gwar bus driver and the rest of gwars dudes were pretty cool. The shaved head bouncer infront of gwar was pretty funny, dude kept laughing as Gwar kept spraying him over and over and over again. - Fri, 26 Nov 2004 1:35am

I want to thank everyone for coming to the show tonight. All three bands were incredible!! Me not being an expert at all in this genre of music, personally I thought the night was donnybrook. Seen many a show and this took the cake by a mile. For those who complain about the drink prices, grab a fucking job and feel so lucky that you had a chance to enjoy this forever lasting experience for only $25.00. "It will never happen again in a venue that size" tour manager GWAR. This was the best live show I've ever seen!!!!

Yeah - no shit. What the fuck was with that?!?!? It's not like it was a fucking Sunday. TOTAL BULL-SHIT. By the time I got there, my only reason for going - Dying Fetus - had only three songs left. FUCK. What a fucking burn.

"It will never happen again in a venue that size" tour manager GWAR.

Yeah right and (I presume now-retired) Gwar character Sleazy B. Martini said the exact same thing in Van. back in '91.

God I'm so fucking sore with a million bruises to match.
Nothing more fun then getting soaked head to toe with fake blood/cum/abortion 'mess' ahahaha....fucking GOOD TIMES!!

Was cool to see all these blood soaked fists raised in the air.

I think I lost half my fucking hair trying to keep my spot in the front.

Arnie was wicked, I liked how he smelt his fingers before his end. Ya the sound was kind of shitty, impossible to make out much lyrics, and the talking of the characters they tore apart was so high pitched!

Coat check, fucking blood ruined my ticket!!

What a show. - Fri, 26 Nov 2004 8:42am

great show! Seen Gwar 4 times and DF 2 time before and Id say that last night they were both better then before. The first band I caught the last 3 songs and they were pretty good to, really good guitaring. Someone told me the long haired guitarist was/is a music teacher for the past 10 years or so and you can tell. I think I may have a sprained elbow though from a crowd surfing crash into the floor haha~! - Fri, 26 Nov 2004 4:57pm

Were you the guy who tried to start surfing near the back of the pit where there weren't too many people? That was pretty funny... so long as there's no bad injuries, of course.

If the guy who I took the picture of with GWAR and Bonehead after the show near the back of the bar reads this, can you email me and I'll send it to you. I can't read your writing.

Cheers! - Fri, 26 Nov 2004 5:35pm

Decent show....sound pretty much sucked.
Thankfully missed the first band.
I wish I would've got to see Dying Fetus when they were actually good...now they are just boring generic DM....they should fucking change their name already.
Gwar were fun but due to the size of the venue I don't think they did as much theatrically that they normally would if they had more space to move around.
Drink prices sucked...but honestly if you didn't expect that then you're retarded. Stood in the coat check line for 20-25mins. trying to get my bag after the show...that was pretty rad....they seem right on top of things down at sugar...whatever ...whine whine blah...I just hate bars/clubs so even minor inconviences when I'm trying to just get the fuck out of there can be annoying. - Fri, 26 Nov 2004 5:57pm

Why is everyone complaining about drink prices.
If you want to get drunk, have a few before the show.
It's a bar. 5$ a beer. Thats that. Even when drinks are under five bucks, I usually tip the rest. Unless it's under Three. Cause that would mean another beer.
The only complaint I have is that some of that money is/was paying for the boob jobs. Oh well.
However I should'nt complain at all, I got my tickets at 9:20. Fuck was I happy.

Great show, so entertaining. My only complain would be the sound, I swear it used to sound great in there! Someone said on here that Sugar changed something sound wise? Maybe they should change it back. Just a thought. Loved the fuckin show, well worth my twenty five bucks. - Fri, 26 Nov 2004 7:18pm

Really good show, probably one of the best overall in Victoria Ive seen in years, where each band seemed on fire. Yah Minello, the guy in ATR has been a teacher for years and was giving lessons to people from their bulletin board before very show.. he had some killer soloing techniques going on, very impressive player and some of the dueling leads were cool.

Dying Fetus fucking crushed, Out of this world drumming combined with Galaghers ability to sing and tap at the same time and bassist from hell, doing all the hammer-ons and even sweeps in conjunction with the lead guitar was very impressive, not to mention some of the fifth stretches the guy was capable playing in a very convoluted manner..

Gwar were on fire, although Id hoped for more old material, I think the only old songs I recall were Horror Of Yg, Sick Of You and The Salamanizer but I swear I heard some lyrics from King Queen in there but not the music.. By that point I was thouroghly buzzed and had some kinda green vomit like slime all over me.. I have a few pics Ill post some time. - Sat, 27 Nov 2004 3:56pm

Since '91 I had been waiting for GWAR to return and let me tell you, it was worth the wait! Some of my body is still green (what was that shit?!!) but at least I got most of it off my face so I could go to work. The show did end early (I was on my way home at 12:10!) but what a great time! It was fun terrorizing the onlookers as we stumbled by outside- what a sight we all must have been. Did anyone get a look at the floor after the show? I bet they're STILL Shop-Vac'ing that crap up! - Sat, 27 Nov 2004 7:16pm

Ya Sugar is under new ownership. I think Jeremy and the guys that used to own it took all their old stuff over to Red Jacket. I wonder if they will ever use Red Jacket for shows. I'm not really a fan of that place but more venues would hopefully mean more shows! - Sun, 28 Nov 2004 2:34pm

This is a first, from my (s)experiences. - Mon, 29 Nov 2004 5:30pm

It's a burn but most big time shows start right when they say or shortly after but that's usually only if it's at the Mac or the Royal. Allthough if you had sold out a show a couple months before it happened and you're getting paid either way wouyld you wait until the crowd rolled in? I would probably just play and get it over with so I could have some fun. - Mon, 29 Nov 2004 9:56pm

Apparently the show was an early one as they were trying to make a late blackball ferry out to Seattle... either that or get out of there with enough time to grab 3 hours sleep to catch the red eye in the morning .. .. something about getting off the rock early to make it to seattle.

And yeah the soundsystem in there now is the old Vertigo sound system (or the one that you would remember from Soundgarden) ... the old system they used to bring in is John Mare's sound rig, which they use at Upstaris Cabaret, SkaFest ... and a bunch of other places. The reason for the change was they wanted something in there semi perminently so they could make sugar more affordable to put on shows. However the vergigo/soundgarden right isn't quite big enough for the room I don't think, it dosen't need much more but just something to make the vocals cut though better, I had the same problems at the KMFDM show there. - Tue, 30 Nov 2004 8:34am

Yeah they're good soundguys (although at both of the shows that I saw and mentioned they wouldn't have been doing the sound it would have been the touring sound guy)

its just that their system isn't powerfull enough for the room, either that or they gotta fly it from the roof or something so that the vocals will cut though. - Tue, 30 Nov 2004 10:34am
