moron User Info... | Howdy. My Kawai k5000s synthesizer is up for grabs. This is a very unique synthesizer and besides being a decent controller (lots of knobs, nice keys, etc.) it is capable of creating some fairly distinct digital textures. You can read up on it here: http://www.harmony-central.com/Synth/Data/Kawai/K5000S-01.html Mine includes the manual and comes with a gig bag. It's in pretty much pristine shape to boot. Asking $600 obo. Trades (partial or otherwise) considered. Email: [email protected] if you are interested. Cheers http://industrial.org - Tue, 5 Jul 2005 10:40am
moron User Info... | Now asking $550 obo. Cheers - Fri, 8 Jul 2005 6:25am
Vegas J User Info... | Hey anyone who's kinda thinking grabbing one of these ( mactac I'm thinking of you) should seriously consider it...I have one, use it in NUVOWAVO and at my old studio as a master board and it's a TOTAL quality synth, the case is metal & brushed aluminum, the keyboard itself is AWESOME to play, and the sounds are crystal-clear, totally noise-free and the machine comes with full on effects and sounds you'll NEVER hear on any other board around. It's the LEXUS of synths..pure quality. There's my public service sales pitch for the day. Cheers! - Fri, 8 Jul 2005 9:46am

mactac User Info... | vegas J, I have more synthesizers than I can fit in my studio, including 2 modulars, a bunch of virtual analogues, tons of vintage synths and an alesis andromeda coming to me. like I said, i'm selling mine because i literally cannot physically fit anything else in my studio (!) - Wed, 13 Jul 2005 7:05pm
mactac User Info... | ...but someone else should buy it... they are great synths (I've had one myself) & this seems like a good deal - Wed, 13 Jul 2005 7:12pm
Vegas J User Info... | Yup, they rock. - Wed, 13 Jul 2005 7:14pm
JasonLove User Info... | I am looking for a synth for my friend. (i am a drummer = don't really know what i am doing so forgive my dumb questions!) 1)Is it a full size 88 and are the keys weighted? 2)Does it have good piano/organ/rhodes/wurlitzer patches? thanks for catering to the technologically impared! - Thu, 14 Jul 2005 10:14am
moron User Info... | Hey Jason. The quick answers are no and no. This is a unique digital synth which excels at digital, electronic sounding textures though it can do some other stuff as well. Think electronica, ambient, industrial, IDM, etc. I believe that the keyboard has 60 keys (it's smaller than my EX5 so that is likely it). Semi-weighted I would call it. Good luck finding a hammer action controller for what I am asking for the K5000s. =) You could likely get organ type patches out of it (additive section plus effects) but there is no piano. Here's a couple of example MP3s I came across online: http://www.deepsonic.ch/deep/audio/acid_add_2.mp3 http://www.deepsonic.ch/deep/audio/k5ks_formant.mp3 Cheers http://industrial.org - Thu, 14 Jul 2005 10:55am
Tyler User Info... | Jason, you're a synth player! in counting heartbeats anyway, right? In my eyes weighted keys are just trying to emulate the action of pianos. It results in a feel that is similar to a piano, which I guess could be good if you took piano lessons and didn't want to learn something new. But non-weighted keys allow for a lot more technical versatility... no weight to limit your speed or anything. Maybe the dynamic control is a little more difficult but it's not hard to adjust to. I've never tried "semi weighted" keys. Are they just pretty much like non-weighted keys with a full body (like actual sides) instead of a surface? If I had a lot more money, ohh the synths I could buy. - Thu, 14 Jul 2005 2:26pm
moron User Info... | I'm calling them semi-weighted just because they are more substantial action wise than most synths I have played. I believe that Fatar made the keyboard if that makes any difference. Looking around online I see a mix of "synth action" and "semi-weighted" descriptions so go figure. So not full on hammer action but still more substantial than my EX5's keyboard. [shrug] Cheers http://industrial.org http://ampfea.org - Thu, 14 Jul 2005 4:31pm
moron User Info... | Now asking $500. And a bumpity bump too. - Sat, 30 Jul 2005 2:42pm
The Box Drone User Info... | Is that thing really as much a bitch to program as people say? Cause that's the right price for damn sure... but with the job & the kid I don't get much time to sit down and make music, let alone learn how to use hardware. I almost sold my SP-808 because I didn't have time to figure it out, and it isn't really all that complicated. So yeah... that's a big factor for me. Do you have any samples of music you've made mostly/entirely with it? - Mon, 1 Aug 2005 12:23pm
Vegas J User Info... | Hey BD...no it's actually easy to program..it's just like an analog synth, DCO,DCF,DCA...the diff is you use additive synthesis ie 128 harmonic frequencies&their amplitudes to establish the initial waveform. Very much like the DX7 , most people including myself will find a "close to" sound & work from there. I doubt anyone other than Kawai gurus would be starting from absolute zero. It's a helluva synth if you have the cash & there's LOADS of patches on the net for the keyboard. Have a great day! Vegas! - Mon, 1 Aug 2005 5:57pm
The Box Drone User Info... | Thanks for the insight Vegas! It definately looks like more bang for my buck than the microKorg, but there's just something special about that little beast... - Tue, 2 Aug 2005 10:56am
moron User Info... | Well, I still have this synth for sale and I need to buy a pair of glasses so I am now asking $400. Drop me a note to [email protected] if you are interested. - Thu, 6 Oct 2005 8:10pm
The Box Drone User Info... | Why do the best deals always come around when I'm FLAT BROKE! Bah! - Tue, 11 Oct 2005 11:24am
Uzer User Info... | +100, I would have snatched it up a couple months back at this price. I'll trade you my glasses for it, are you near or far-sighted? ;) - Tue, 11 Oct 2005 12:54pm
Stygian User Info... | I'm as technically inept as they come but thinking grabbing this. I am really getting into dark ambient and would like to try and make some of my own, but i'm not only starting ground zero, i'm like, 5 stories below the surface. - Wed, 12 Oct 2005 7:04pm
Vegas J User Info... | This synth can sound more evil than anything I've EVER used...the digital resonance is just banshee-stunning! You won't regret buying it and everyone will wonder where on earth you ever got you sound from 'cause they're such a unique piece. The tone is NOT subtle! You'll be instantly on the 20th floor below! - Thu, 13 Oct 2005 6:00pm
