| lonemonk User Info... | It might sound stupid, but perhaps you should grow some yourself. This approach has two primary advantages: 1. You will know what it is you're ingesting 2. You can't easily grow enough to become completely addicted. http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/opiates/opiates_faq.shtml Check some of the recipes as well for 'Poppy-head tea' which used to be a common drink in the Queens' own Land. I have made this tea from dried oriental poppies that you might find a craft store in fact. Better though is grow it, get some real gum out of the pods, dry it and smoke it. It has caused brutal wars, the UK to take over Hong Kong, and kept the turks/afghanies alive for millenia. China/Vietnam/Thailand/Burma I find the politics of the opium trade facinating as well. | The Box Drone User Info... | If you find out exactly what they look like, you can often find them in gardens around town too. I believe it's technically illegal to grow them, but alot of little old ladys don't know the difference and alot of cops don't spend much time looking through little old ladies' gardens. They have to be the right kind of poppys though, so make sure and do your research first. | lonemonk User Info... | Ya, they're everywhere in fact, but there is so many varieties it can be hard to tell them all apart. There's many breeds with morphine content, but only a handful which have enough concentration to do any good. It is certainly too bad there isn't tinctures still sold in the drug stores like in early 20th Cent. I suspect that I for one would be a write-off if it where. A pain-free write-off however! On a recent Myth-Busters episode they proved rather definitively that you can easily fail a drug test by eating a relatively small amount of poppy seeds. I hate to talk good about opiates, what with the olvious addiction problems people have, but opium was a fun high. I described it to someone once as having a vice wrapped around my head and as soon as I did my first hit the vice got let go and my brain stopped hurting.
