| Graham User Info... | Now, I do realize that I shouldn't be looking for a decent music video source on television...but isn't that ridiculous? I have had MuchMusic on in the background for close to 2 hours now and NOT ONE MUSIC VIDEO HAS BEEN PLAYED. It's been Hollywood gossip bullshit, "try-out" reality shows etc. When will there be a music video station that will equally represent all types of music videos? (alternative, mainstream, etc.) I remember around 7-8 years ago, MuchMusic wasn't that bad. They played MUSIC VIDEOS! Am I horribly wrong? Any comments? Thanks - Mon, 22 Dec 2003 7:00pm | ||

| _Griphin_ User Info... | Much Music, as well as all of the Canadian stations, are doing a sorta "sweeps week". I watch Much Gype (err.. Music :) yesterday with this show with George Losenges (Strumple-whatever) and haven't laughed so hard in the last week, he's awesome for slagging bands, but bands who deserved to be slagged, I still think he should do a special on Victoria bands, that would be off the hook, alas I babble... More local bands should do videos, whether or Much Gype would play them is my guess... but yeah George would rock, but he must be bi=sexual (seen him during the Metallica interview?!? | Hoffa User Info... | Elliot you have pointed out the source of frustration. MuchMusic has been available via cable in the US for a few years now. All the lame programming you see is in direct response to MTV. They think in order to compete one must mimic. MTV has TRL (Total Request Live) and MM has it's weak knockoff and so on. There have beem a number of changes at Much that might be influencing this as well. Apparently Owner/Founder Moses Znaimer has been removed from the board of directors effectively changing his "progressive" influence on CHUM tv's marketting and policies. Personel changes with program directors & even wildcard influences such as Sook Yin Lee have probably marked the shift towards a lame attempt to chase marketshare.
