entirely agree with the opinional thing, that being said here is my take. Aside from the obvious theme that should be prevalent in the music on the album, there should also exist an element that captures and signifies that particular artists musicianship and attitude at the time of making the record/album. Kind of like a personal scrapbook?
Without getting too philosophical here, it should say something OUT LOUD, but remain artfully subtle...it should cause waves in its own genre and music as a whole.
An album can capture a snapshot of a generation and its pulse, when you think of the 60's the first album that comes to mind (for me Seargent Pepper), the 90's (pearl jam Ten) etc.
Its purely a matter of musical taste, or distaste as the case may be. Everyone has different likes so really it's all about what gives you a rush of somekind too...good choice for topic man - Mon, 13 Feb 2006 3:34pm

hmmm I guess that to is a matter of opinion, I always thought it was a word, you know like in the newspaper you read opinionals?
I haven't found it in the dictionary so I stand corrected, however if you follow this link you will see it used in several contexts.... who knows....
