moron User Info... | Howdy. We've passed the post into the new year which means that it is once again time to put out the call for participants wanting to partake in the cacophonous skree filled thronging that it is the Noise! fest. This year's festival will be happening on May 27th 2006 here in Lotus Land or as otherwise known Victoria, BC, Canada and if you would like to take part now is the time to speak up. For those unfamiliar with the event, the festival is an all day affair focussing on (surprise!) noise based musics and media which includes both videos and performances and runs from the early afternoon off into the wee hours. Sonically it offers sounds ranging from harsh pedal abuse to laptop meddling to crazy performance art to outsider freakout and back again. Video material ranges from documentaries to art pieces to performance footage. Together these noisy components make for a deliciously complete assault on the senses. The following link provides a review and some pictures from last year's festival to give you an idea of what we are all about: http://industrial.org/news.php?t=22695 So then. . . .we are looking for both performers *and* video submissions for this 5th iteration of our yearly event. On the video front we can accept submissions on DVD(-R) in either NTSC or PAL format, or VHS (NTSC only) and if necessary we can cover postage. Due to the nature of the event (i.e. non-sponsored and grass roots) we cannot offer remuneration for the actual showings but we can guarantee an enthusiastic audience. On the performance side we are looking for both local and out of town acts. Slots fill up fast and while we will do our best to make room for out of towners wanting to take part, you will need to hop on it if you want to be assured of a performance slot. For performers that we are not already familiar with we do need to hear some example material before hand to make sure you will fit in with the intent of the festival (links to MP3s are fine or send a CD / CDR). Also, please keep in mind that this is a 100% DIY effort funded out of our paychecks so no guarantees can be offered beyond a safe place to sleep at our house and a meal if needed. What we can definitely promise however is an appreciative audience, a decent PA and a suitable venue for your noise to be heard. We also will have a merch table setup which will be open to all participants to make use of if they wish. The main site will be updated in the near future so keep your eyes peeled for updates: http://industrial.org/noise If you have any questions about the event please drop us a note. alain User Info... | I'm in. I'm down with collaborating with some people too, as I don't have a noise project, just noisy habits. I'm into the pedal and synth stuff.
