...It's not hardcore.

It's pretty much just monday.

All Tragedy got out of it was a hangover and that annoying "Tainted Love" song stuck in my head. - Tue, 20 Apr 2004 8:49am

I've always called it "Not so hardcore Monday" The only thing "hardcore" about it is the fukcing hang over you get the next day from drinking their chitty beer. Seriously, what do they put in that stuff? I drink 3 or 4 AGD's off the tap and I feel sick the next day. I'm a pretty cheap person, so I like the fact that 2 bux will buy me a beer, but from now on I think I'll just drink before hand and buy a few bottled beers from the place. Better yet, I'll drink before hand and just hang out with my friends at my house. Hey, I can even put on some "hardcore" music. Damb, I'm sure gonna miss listening to 3 Days Grace. - Tue, 20 Apr 2004 9:46am

Why do you feel sick the next day?!? Well a few reasons, namely the heat (which dehydrates you, making you drink more and get way more drunk) and the dirty beer lines (doubt they clean them, there's probably a huge bacteria buildup). Play it safe, drink bottled beer there. - Tue, 20 Apr 2004 10:36am

"Mallcore" mondays aren't even worth the cheap beer. Logan's had a good thing going, but all the Bangers in Victoria would rather stay home and veg out. Goddamnit!!!! - Tue, 20 Apr 2004 2:28pm

AMEN to the Logan's thing eh. I decided to go a couple times to support, but it was pretty much the same few people (guys) every time. My buddies and I actually got so bored there that we left for evo's to check 'er out and that's where we found all the "bangers." Didn't pay cover after getting there and hearing the Ramones from outside..not to really diss the Ramones er anything heheh. I actually got evos to play angel of death on my birthday a while ago and a bunch of us had pretty sweet pit goin on...that's probably why it sucks now...sorry everyone! - Tue, 20 Apr 2004 2:37pm

Actually it sucked well before your time man, it all started when evo got a new dj who changed metal mondays to "hardcore*hrrcoughmallcore*mondays"

That bar is more pussy ass than a linkin park concert and twice as gay as limp bizkit's last single.

At least the other shitty bars dont claim to be hardcore, Mondays at evo is a slap in the face, minus the 1.50 swill, now all it is, is the poser meat market.

Unless of course.. you just wanna go there and pick up on eachother and get fucking loaded, then I will have to admit, Evo is still number one with their dance floor attracting drunken chicks and their 1.50 swill getting everyone loaded for the same price as a case of brew...

Evo needs the old dj from about 4 - 5 years ago, thats a fucking fact, anyone who plays michael jackson on a night called hardcore monday should be fired no questions asked - Tue, 20 Apr 2004 3:23pm

Hey I couldn't make Metal Monday's at Logans cause (A) I was working and (B) I easily drop $40 in Logan's, so I couldn't afford it. Heh... if I showed up, I'd bring a buncha local punk/metal and rock the house, but the person who ran it wanted a certain sound, which a lot of the local demos didn't have. Damnit, Logan's should have an Independant Monday's, and hire me to do it. :) And BTW: I'd try to pull off a drink special (IPA preferably). Imagine hearing old tracks from Drunktank, Jerk Ward and House of Commons. BTW: What the hell was Logan's thinking, gun Metal Mondays for Disco Mondays?!? - Tue, 20 Apr 2004 6:22pm

Hey Tragedy: pop'n Acetaminophen is only gonna aggravate your hangover (not to mention your liver). Drink water throughout the evening. Dancing will make it worse too, but you shouldn't stop that.

I think I'm gonna make a working anti-hangover pill... the necessary enzymes are already in all aerobic bacteria, so I won't even have to waste any time with genetic manipulations - Wed, 21 Apr 2004 5:09pm

Evo plays some weak music but... it is WAY better then the other "dance clubs" in town. Remember, its a dance club. It a place for girls, girls like Micheal Jackson, even on Hard-Core night, and metal night and acid-folk jazz-hop night, so learn to deal and enjoy the tube-tops... It would be interesting if the DJ could post some of the great requests he must field in a night.

I thought I read somewhere, maybe on this site, that Leeroy was DJing a Garage/Indie night at Logans on Mondays now? That could be fun, and indie rock ladies are button cute and useally employed, unlike some of the dirrrties at Evo :) - Wed, 21 Apr 2004 7:21pm

I'm a girl, and I despise Michael Jackson.

That was just really dumb of you to say.

But you're right, it sure beats the Boom Boom room or some shit. At least they play Slayer and Tool and Pantera, but you sure have to wait through alot of garbage to even get that. It should be called "Hard rock from about 5 years ago and gay radio nu- metal" night. All posers welcome. Bring your girlfriends.

Hey Doctor Broc' (hee hee) don't you think that dancing would be good rather than bad for a hangover, since you're burning off the beer? Meybe more tired the next day, but not so much sick as a dog, no? It's hard to drink water all night between beers at a bar, though. I don't think I've ever bought water at a bar. - Thu, 22 Apr 2004 10:56am

Many found memories of Evo. People getting punched in the face, people fighting with the bouncers, weird people going home together, people falling off those fucking chair stools, people dancing really funny...

I agree with the Evo Beer being one of the sickest in town, and it does seem to make you feel a little bit worse than any other around town.

Been working monday nights for 5 months now, haven't been to Evo in probably a year. - Thu, 22 Apr 2004 1:10pm

Haha, I've fallen off those stools lotsa times from too much gross beer. I think all their legs are uneven...

Dodsy, This isn't my home-made barbiturates: the hangover pill will be urine free (if I ever make one).

Dancing will make you more sore: the enzymes that breakdown lactic acid (built up during dancing)are the same ones that breakdown the booze, and booze gets priority because it is toxic. This contributes more to the body soreness the next day then the headaches. Generally, exercise (dancing) decreases secondary metabolic processes, like liver function and digestion.

But please, don't stop shakin' that thing causa me - Thu, 22 Apr 2004 1:21pm

Tragedy!......."Hey Doctor Broc' (hee hee) don't you think that dancing would be good rather than bad for a hangover, since you're burning off the beer? Meybe more tired the next day, but not so much sick as a dog, no? "

Doctor Broc is correct! You dont burn off beer. Silly. Calories you will burn but not the "Beer". Alcohol is absorbed, not burned, or as Doc Broc says,,,broken down. AND, something Doc Broc didnt mention there Not-so-Doc Trag (hehe),........ by dancing, you are burning calories (working the body), which requires the use of energy, which heats you, which needs water, to help the transfer of and the bodies ability to carry oxygen,....... and hydrate the areas "Burning the beer", as you call it. Therefore, you are doubling the bodies need of "Good quality H2O", something someone who has never bought water at a bar before would need....creating the worst hangover ever.

For those of you blaming your hangovers on the beer being served, slap yourselves, anything that is in alchohol is well DEAD! Now, if the lines havent been used, and there is something living inside, and then it is flushed into your glass..sure. But, any draft lines that are being used, especially on a cheap-azz night, are well disinfected by the best disinfectant...thats right, our friend Mr. Alcohol! There are no live bacterium or other "poisons". ANY POst-Chug-aLug sickness, is created by the lack of water, or DEHYDRATION, and of course, you are drinking alcohol.

I have stopped my drinking days, and have gone to a system. I have a rye and 7, double of course, then a glass of water. Trust me on this,.......You will have a better quality buzz, and you can giv er all night. With NO hangover!

Pierce, quit cutting my grass! Science (much like music) is obviously not your forte! (just josh'n ya Bucky)

Dr. Brock sez:

Your mostly right about dehydration, except for the oxygen carry'n bullox, the water is needed to run the Kreb cycle. Any alcohol that "burns" or oxidizes bodily tissues are quickly reduced back to the free radicle OH, it is only in the liver that the oxidative toxin is disposed of, well, it also permiates out the skin and your mouth (~5%, thats how breathalizers work), and much of it will be pissed away. OH is absorbed, like EVERYTHING you ingest, but it IS broken down in the liver, to O2 and H2O. You SEE these O2 bubbles when you poor alcohol or hydrogen peroxide over a dirty wound (this is due to bacterial enzmes, like catalase dismutase, which would be the main ingrediants of said hangover pill)

Yes, Alcohol is an excellent antiseptic, and all the Bacteria that can live in large concentrations of it are not pathenogenic. HOWEVER, Toxins produced by bacteria living there during the day will NOT be denatured by the alcohol (OH) and could still make you sick. But really, it is far more likely that the pipes are just old and corroding, and thats why the draft tastes so bad, and Tragety is a not an established alcoholic with hangover tollerance, so thats why she is sick the next day.

I'll take a sample of the draft wednesday if it tastes bad, and give you the results of my analysis - Thu, 22 Apr 2004 7:18pm

Personally I've never been hungover from Evo beer, and it's the brand if you're all curious, I can determine this because that 1.50 swill used to not be so bad, but as of the day they switched brands the pukey rust taste made it's debut...

But hell I guess for all I know the old beer was better than it tasted and the pipes were dirty from day one, but one thing is for sure, that brand they serve as "big rock" is pure fucking swill, it must be the big rock that has expired and was purchased on a discount or something because elsewhere, big rock sure as hell doesn't taste like that! - Thu, 22 Apr 2004 8:50pm

"Your mostly right about dehydration, except for the oxygen carry'n bullox"

I was simply making a statement, that being well hydrated allows the circulatory system to do its job. In my line of work (rescue), they teach us that being dehydrated reduces the efficiancy of the body to distribute the oxygen throughout the extremeties. Lack of Oxygen creates nothing but problems in the "Tete".

Have you ever tried sucking back straight O2 after a night out? Does wonders - Thu, 22 Apr 2004 10:12pm

Do you mean pathogenic? (I definitely could be wrong, just my need to know.)
How about the mix? Noobody has mentioned how in a rye and coke, the sugar and caffeine seek and destroy all your H2O, at least, that is, according to the legend. I'd like to know how much hanging is contributed by the crap you put in your favourite alchohol. - Sat, 1 May 2004 6:49pm
