Message Board > Music Chitchat - Heavy > Favourite local bands?? |
The Grand Poo-Bah User Info... | I'm pretty sure there's an older thread about this, but this seems easier to do. This really applys to all artists "heavy" or not; so who do people really like around here? Me personally: Citadel, The Counting Heartbeats, Laxarus Taxon, Kincaide PS: Let's try our hardest to keep this thread positive, instead of ranting on who you hate, rant on who you love! It's so much cooler. - Thu, 1 Mar 2007 9:02pm
Andrew User Info... | the grey army are my favorite local band by far. insane live sets - Thu, 1 Mar 2007 9:35pm
darcy User Info... | Does Nanaimo count as local? Because if it does I would have to say The Kiltlifters. Hmmm, now I'm trying to think about the band in terms of the music or just the good times at the shows, haha. People's War AK-47 The Raygun Immaculate Machine Che Chapter 127 And, obviously, good times with the Hoochy Girls. Oh, and that "Pioneers" set. - Thu, 1 Mar 2007 10:49pm

Bryan User Info... | I'm looking forward to one day when Gremory get really big and I'm able to tell people that I was into them when they were just some local band in Victoria. Mitochondrion are a close second. If bands who are no logner active count, Allfather's Weapon of Ascension is easily the best metal album I've ever heard from a Victoria band... it's a shame I wasn't aware of the metal scene when they were still around. As far as non-metal bands... I'm by no stretch a ska fan, but The Hoochy Girls pretty much ruled. - Fri, 2 Mar 2007 12:49am Edited: Fri, 2 Mar 2007 12:55am

Rod User Info... | Well I must admit I'm a Lythic Blue fan. Did you see Quick, Said the Bird last night at Gary Oak? Ryan (Ryborg) from Lythic Blue plays in it. I think they are an up and coming band, It would be great to see a show with The Set, which has Martin and Elliot from Lythic Blue and Italian Edition which has Jay B and Matt from Lythic Blue and Quick, Said the Bird. They could all get together and play a Lythic Blue set at the end! - Sat, 28 Apr 2007 5:30pm
lonemonk User Info... | It warms my heart that someone has People's War on their list. Good taste indeed... (blush, thanks darcy) Lots of people mentioned AK which is obviously a *very* wise choice. We played a show with Lythic Blue once (@Burnside Elementary Hall, IIRC). I remember them being pretty damn trippy in a relatively good way. They kicked ass on Slave Co. in any case, and that is a fact. (Sorry Chi P) Here's mine: David P Smith & Dad's Juice Clay George The Buttless Chaps The GarryOaksMen Enchanted Faeries (I'm not into metal, but these guys have a caustic sense of humour and a kick-ass bone in their backside!) From the past: Atlas himself is a bandmate as well, so maybe I'm influenced; I love the band Atlas Strategic You can't find that exact flavour of oddity in music these days. . . Joke: What happens when a REALLY good band moves from Victoria to Montreal? . They become a {cough:lame} band called Wolf Parade!. . - Sun, 29 Apr 2007 12:30am Edited: Sun, 29 Apr 2007 3:51am
