ak Messages Posted: | looking for some alternatives for printing 500 CD's i've gotten in touch with sonrise, and heard good stuff from kincaide about them.. any places locally that do cardboard multi-fold cases (with or without trays)? thanks! - Thu, 30 Mar 2006 6:04pm Edited: Thu, 30 Mar 2006 6:07pm
Peter Gardner User Info... | Company Zero I believe does what you're looking for... but I think they just use standard store-baught discs. - Thu, 30 Mar 2006 10:37pm Edited: Thu, 30 Mar 2006 10:37pm
aidan knight! User Info... | i guess i should specify.. 2 to 3 colour silkscreened CD's with cardboard multi-fold cases. i guess it would be best to leave to a professional? i don't know much about company zero, i'll take a look. - Fri, 31 Mar 2006 12:18am Edited: Fri, 31 Mar 2006 12:20am
Kris North User Info... | company zero is great for cheap and fast production, but not for what you are looking for. - Fri, 31 Mar 2006 7:22am Edited: Fri, 31 Mar 2006 7:22am
zakco User Info... | To the best of my knowledge, NOBODY locally (on the island) has an audio CD pressing plant. Unless you're talking CD-Rs, EVERYONE is sending them to a plant on the mainland or back east. That's not to say you can't get good pricing and service from a local re-seller (my company offers this) but you should know that they're not being done "in-house". I hope this info helps. BTW, email me if you want a quote... - Fri, 31 Mar 2006 10:18am Edited: Fri, 31 Mar 2006 10:27am
wackakpow User Info... | I got some pretty sweet quotes from Company Zero, and Storm in Nanaimo. Better than Sonrise. Check out the last couple threads on the subject, I listed some exact quotes I got from sellers. Can't wait to hear the recording, I like your stuff. - Fri, 31 Mar 2006 2:09pm Edited: Fri, 31 Mar 2006 2:11pm
Jesse The Malcontent User Info... | I've gone through Storm and will continue to do so - I recommend them highly. - Fri, 31 Mar 2006 2:40pm Edited: Fri, 31 Mar 2006 2:41pm
Rex User Info... | All I have to say about Company Zero is that the guy who did our CDs mispelled several names and words on our final copies. This was after correcting about 3 drafts that he did which were, and I'm being nice here, brutal. So, unless they've improved in the last 2 years I'd keep a sharp eye on the work being done. That is, if you choose to take their path. Cheers. - Fri, 31 Mar 2006 6:19pm Edited: Fri, 31 Mar 2006 6:25pm
zakco User Info... | Good point Rex. I think too much weight is placed on the price. You get what you pay for. Typically most companies will be within $50 of each other on a 500 unit order. What really sets them apart is the quality of the final product and the service you recieve. If you save 50 bucks but they show up 2 weeks late and the print quality sucks, what did you really gain? Sonrise may not be the cheapest game in town but their service is top notch and they are honest. I can't say that for some of the other players. -Z- - Fri, 31 Mar 2006 6:59pm Edited: Fri, 31 Mar 2006 7:04pm
wackakapow User Info... | Company Zero is an all-in-one business with I think just one guy running it, so not everything can be expected to be spectacular. Their website seems to indicate that graphic art is not a forte. We had some EPs done there and they look great, and were a pretty good deal, but we had an professional artist do the artwork. Get artists to do art and cd duplicators to duplicate cds; if everyone's working in their niche things run a lot smoother. - Fri, 31 Mar 2006 8:26pm Edited: Fri, 31 Mar 2006 8:37pm
zakco User Info... | BTW, I wasn't referring to Company Zero in my previous post. I hope it doesn't read that way. Good point about using a qualified graphic artist. - Fri, 31 Mar 2006 11:05pm Edited: Fri, 31 Mar 2006 11:11pm
