| brodyparker User Info... | Seemed pretty nice late last night getting off the ferry. Found the house my girlfriend and I are supposed to be living in. It's definitely not the way it seemed in pictures. Got inside and the place stank, there were spiders everywhere, and the bathroom is a pit. We left and are now in a hotel for the next couple hours. | bbjones User Info... | Call a maid service to come clean the place out. Open all the doors/windows to air it out. Accept the fact you're now in Vic and it is the best place in the world to be. Head to the closest pub while the maid cleans your house (unless she's hot then send the g/f to the grocery store and stay home to "supervise"). | Lucius User Info... | +1 to the maid service. We had this stinking hot maid for a couple months. Unfortunately she quit and we have since replaced her with just a maid! Anyways, Vic is the best place to be. Go downtown during and do some people watching check some shows, espcially tomorrow night @ lucky.. I hear there is some incredible bands playing July 4th. | GibsonGuy User Info... | Welcome to Vic bro! I moved here from Ontario in 1990 and never looked back. The feeling of homesickness never really goes away as long as you have friends and family back where you grew up, but it does get a little easier as time goes on and you make new friends and get settled in with work and stuff. The first two years were the toughest for me, change of climate, making new friends, etc. There were many times I thought about packin my bags and movin back but Im so glad I stayed, it truly is the best Canada has to offer. I just got back from a 20 year High School reunion and it was great to see friends after all this time but my hometown is nothing like I remember growing up, so industrialized, dirty, a true shithole!! I would never go back to live and visiting I cant stand much more than about 4 days after seeing everyone I need to see, I couldnt wait to get back to the coast, my true home. Hang in there man it does get easier. Keep busy by enjoying things you like to do, sports, music, school etc. You'll start to meet new people and before you know it making new friends.
