st. ass OK this is not at all music related, but it's a topic regardless...even if it is geeky. I was just channel surfing and saw that on Smack Down there was Rowdy Roddy Piper. Like whoa, dude. I haven't seen him around in a long ass time, and oddly enough I was just talking with someone the other day about that crappy movie he made in about 1990. What was the name of that thing?

Anyhow, old favourites? Rowdy Roddy was one of my faves, and it seems the rest of my faves have recently died or have had strokes recently. Other old favourites have just dropped off the face of the earth. That has made me realise that despite the fact that I am a tremendously sexy, ripped beast right now, it will be inevitable that my day will come some day as well...

Anything WWF is hardly old. How about Abdulah the Butcher, Torr Kamada (sp?), Andre the Giant? You know, back when wrestling wasn't as much of a joke as it is today? Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling started a lot of the "big" names that have come and gone from the WWF, including 2 of his sons and 1 son in law (Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart (sp?)). - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 2:18am

It absolutely escapes me why truckloads of Oscar awards weren't thrown at these movies. I guess it's proof that they're totally rigged by the commies. Or is it the jews that run hollywood? stank ass Brad- Should you ever find that tape, please let me know. I'd love to copy it. Too funny. [email protected]

I was a psycho wrestling kid. I used to save up all my money and buy nothing but overpriced wrestling crap. I had the wrestling ring with a shitload of figurines, Bret Hart sunglasses that I used to strut my shit in, posters over my bed and t-shirts littering my drawrs. I had my hair done like the British Bulldog and I used to make a screaming ass out of myself at the wrestling matches here and in Vancouver. My poor grandma took me on more than one occasion. It wasn't really her forte.

Fuck yeah, and Slick the manager, with the rap song he recorded.uhhh "I'm a jive soul bro, I'm a jive soul bro and I yadda yadda...." And last year I watched a documentary on Jake the Snake. Man is he ever fucked up now. He had a huge booze and coke problem and was suicidally depressed because he hadn;t seen his family in years. Like an old burned out biker. Too bad, I loved him in the day. Up til last year he was still wrestling in those circuit touring things that go from hick town to hick town with a bunch of nobodies who get an extra 20 bucks if they cut themselves up in the ring. Oh well. - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 1:22pm

True story: Pearl Harbour Honolulu 1999. I was staying at a hotel in downtown Honolulu when i saw "Tatanka" coming out of the hotel room next door. We ended up partying with him. He is a manager now for WWE or was WWF and he manages small venues for up and comers. The dude also ran a "hot" market from his permanent hotel room. The dude had everything from Oakleys to fucking leather jackets. i paid him 50$ to Suplex me off the 2 floor into the pool. He said he wrestled in a few wrestlemanias, couldnt remember any specific fights, but man that guy stank, like garlic and hotsauce. I was glad i hit the chlorinated water after the suplex - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 1:41pm
Anonymous anyone remember All-Star Wrestling on BCTV, like mid-80s... Al Tomko, Diamond Timothy Flowers, Gerry Morrow, Eric Frolich, Larry Watt, the Frog, Klondike Mike, on and on... the old man host guy died at some point and the host job was taken over by the guy who did weather and announcing lottery numbers on BCTV news... damn I wonder if anyone has some of this on tape! - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 3:29pm

Troutbreath Troutbreath - When I was 16 I worked at a Boat Rental in Horseshoe Bay. It was a popular place to fish in those days and I'd see the occasional wrestler, Don Leo Johnathan and Gene Kiniski to name a couple. One afternoon I was alone in charge of the place. The office was out on the floats and I was just hanging inside when the floats started rocking up and down. I looked up the docks to see what was going on and here came this HUGE guy and someone who turned out to be his wife. He was carrying an ice chest that looked like a kids lunch box he was so big. He came to the office window and I realized I was looking at 'Haystack' Calhoun. He weighed about 650 lbs. The dock the office was on was awash. I had water lapping at my ankles. We rented clinker built wooden boats with little one cylinder 'putt-putt' motor in them. The largest one had a maximum capacity of 700 lbs. I had to explain to 'Haystack' that he was.......um.....well I told him he would be more comfortable in a bigger boat. I had to send him over to Sewell's where they had big cabin cruisers. I think that was the day I learned diplomacy. My knees where shaking after he left. - Sun, 13 Apr 3:02pm - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 5:16pm

I could go on anf on. Wrestiling just seemed better back then. Know what I mean?

By the way, THEY LIVE is one of the greatest movies EVER! How could it not be when it has an alien motif with underlying themes of government and multi-nationals pulling a fast one on the world's population. And starring a pro wrestler at that! Plus, lets not forget the longest fistfight ever committed to celuloid. - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 7:21pm
C urious George I think wrestling seemed better back then because we were all kids (or closer to anyways, Ty). It's a lot easier to ask a bunch of 5-15 year olds to suspend belief than it is 20-30 year olds.

Rowdy Roddy Piper Rules! "Every time you think you know the answers, I keep changing the questions!" CLASSIC! - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 7:40pm
stank ass I remember when I'd go to the big matches in Vancouver, I'd drag my mom's sorry ass with me to hang around in the rain in the back of the arena to try to get someone famous' autograph. I even had a little book that I designed the cover of specifically for my WWF wresters autographs. I never got anyone cool's signature. I only got the nobodys got their asses kicked. It was still pretty exciting. I mean, like this Joe Blow actually got lifted up by like Hulk Hogan or Jake the Snake or whoever it was that was figting. Pretty hip. - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 9:09pm

beazlbub i dont remember what year it was but i was at legends (maybe it was the forge )when these wrestlers came in to drink after a match at the memorial arena ,i was just minding my own business when the million doller man came up and started askin me where the stripclub was ,i told him where it was and all of a sudden this little roid monkey with a red mowhawk comes up and started freakin out at me sayin he would take my head off if i was lyin about where the strip club was lol,i just laughed at the dude and walked away but he grabs my arm and tells me not to turn my back on him i just pushed him away and went back to my seat i later learned it was takonka ,i saw the million doller man tip the waitress a whole 25 cents for a drink and he made a big deal about it, tellin her she would get more if she just served him lol what an asshole, million doller chump is more like it. - Mon, 14 Apr 2003 9:37am
Anonymous a coupla years ago we were playing in Williams Lake at the Elk's hall or something and upstairs they had a full on wrestling match. You know who it was? It was that old fat fucker "The Honkey Tonk Man". Hahahaha. No guitar to smash, I guess rattling around the minor circuit just isn't paying all the bills these days. He was wrestling this guy whose whole schtick was that he was a flaming gay wrestler. It was kinda scary...all the redneck hicks and their little progeny screaming, "Kill the fag! Kill the fag!" Creepy man... - Mon, 14 Apr 2003 9:55am
