Trailer Park Boy Julian | Anybody else out there dig Tom Waits? His music was MEANT for whiskey!! - Sat, 1 Feb 2003 4:31am
Zipp Gunn User Info... | Forget Waits, give a listen to Captain Beefheart, the man that Waits lifted his entire schtick from. - Sat, 1 Feb 2003 3:13pm
Anonymous | They both suck and are dull and annoying. - Sat, 1 Feb 2003 3:16pm
J | Yeah Captain Beefheart is good, waits used to play with tham waaay back, but you have to admit Tom waits is a fucking good song writer. Both are dull and annoying? Fuck that. I'm guessing that comment came from another nausiatingly predictable anonymous metal head loser. Small Change is the best deadly hangover album of all time. - Sat, 1 Feb 2003 6:21pm
Kyle User Info... | BrandXMedia and Gashly Crumb are presenting a night of Tom Waits as done by local acts coming up on March 21st at Thursdays Tavern, including Immaculate Machine, Emilie Rhone and Sarah Rhude, Veronica Tangent, Leeroy Stagger and more. We're still looking for more people to play. Get in touch at [email protected] if you're interested in playing, or have any questions. Cheers. - Sat, 1 Feb 2003 6:51pm

S.V. | A little bourbon and a little Waits....move over Barry White. I love Tom's smokey voice, but I'm really a Big Bill Broonzy girl at heart. - Thu, 6 Feb 2003 9:16am
Anonymous | Yeah, Waits wouldn't exists withouth the likes of the really old blues guys. Big Bill Broonzy, Leadbelly, scrapper blackwell. Supposedly Bone machine was primarily inspired by old Alan Lomax prison recordings. - Thu, 6 Feb 2003 10:11am
Zippgunn User Info... | Waits never played with Beefheart, what he did was "re-invent" his sound by hiring most of the good captain's magic band when the captain retired. Anyone who thinks Waits is a benchmark of originality should listen to his records in sequence, especially the later (awful) Asylum ones. He was amusing when he was a hopeless drunk but now he's dry and is attempting to recapture the sound of his lost years. This is not to say he is BAD; Swordfishtrombones and Rain Dogs are actually quite good, but he has never rocked out very much and he fancies himself a deep and meaningful artist. As for Beefheart avoid the two albums he made for Mercury (Unconditionally Guaranteed and Bluejeans and Moonbeams) like the plague. Everything else he did has its moments of genius and he rocks out like crazy quite a bit. - Fri, 7 Feb 2003 3:27pm
