Good guitar pickups for METAL??

Rotting Christofoli Hey guys, I've got a Jackson JK-20 Pro (bottom-of-the-line version of the guitar Marty Friedman used to use with Megadeth) and the stock pickups that came with it sound just awful. I'm curious as to what brands/models all of you Victoria and Nanaimo metal guys are using, and whether or not a pair of EMG's or Seymour Duncan's will make any major improvements to my sound. Thanks in advance for sharing your experience. Cheers. - Mon, 20 Jan 2003 10:44pm
Geetar Slinga EMG 81's or Seymour Drunken Full Shreds. - Tue, 21 Jan 2003 1:35am
Anonymous the emg 81 are the choice for pick ups these days, you really cant go wrong with them. But if you have a crappy amp you really wont notice the difference - Tue, 21 Jan 2003 2:24am

I put the 81 in my bridge position and a 60 in the neck. Later I decided to switch'em and found the 60 to be much better in the bridge. Not as much top end, I think the 81 puts out too much high. The 60 is a little darker. IMO. - Tue, 21 Jan 2003 9:00am
Rotting Christofoli I'm thinking of putting an 81 in the neck and an 85 in the bridge... anyone had experience putting good pickups in a low quality Jackson? Did it make any difference? (By the way my amp is great so there should be no need to upgrade that) - Wed, 22 Jan 2003 10:02pm
